anybody need sound damping materials?

Post by ttocs »

I am about to order some second skin damping materials and was just wondering if there was anyone else that was interested in trying to get a group buy together? Great stuff and I will not use anything less personally, if you have not had the chance to use it you would not undestand... I would be happy to try and organize it if there was enough people interested....

So you mean to tell me that this is better than the Peel and Seal at Lowes for 14 bucks a roll?

well it doesn't release carcinogins(SP?) for one thing but yes the foil is thicker and the rubber has better adhesive properties. I put the second skin on 3 yrs ago and it lasted through 3 phoenix summers where I know peel n seel would have fallen off. Peel and seal is made to go on flat surfaces and have something on top of it to help hold it down so it is only a matter of time before it fails.

I mean if you want to take a nice pg system and then half ass it with the lowes stuff then more power to ya, but I like to do it right and do it once....

Touche my brother..... BTW I was givin ya crap :) i wish soud deadening wasnt so expensive , I mean sure there is cheaper stuff around but all in all lets say you want to do a suv or a van or even a larger car your looking at spending a few hubdred dollars if you do it properly.

ive hear good things about the stuff you mentioned.Second skin. I noticed one of my distributors is selling Hushmat sound deadening but dont know how it compares

the hushmat I have heard good stuff about as well, and used once or twice but the foil is stil thinner and it didn't seem to like the phoenix summers. I have actually peeled some of the panels on my doors off and been able to re-apply it and not had issues. That is not anything I have ever heard about from another company.

section 8 thats funny.

I have spend the last few months looking for the correct cables and ends, gathering all my materials to get ready for it. When it comes to my car again I do it right and do it once as I hate to re-do stuff that could have been prevented months ago with a $20.... Sound damping does suck to pay for and install but in my opinion if you do it right you will never think about the price you spent on it while enjoying the silence for years to come.

unfortunatly I guess not many people are interested....

if people do not want a full kit but would like either a sheet or two we can probably arrange that as well. If people are really curious about it I think I have some left overs that I could send out as a sample if you want.

Ant claimed that it was sticky enough that you could spray the door with wd40, apply it while it was wet and it would still hold no problems. Never tried it but I am would believe him, he knew that stuff really well.

the regular damplifier is better as it has a better foil.

If you have a piece of extreme, I could mail you a piece of the pro to compair too.

I could use enough to do an entire FJ Cruiser. Floor, roof, doors and rear. If you can hook us up with some kind of special pricing in the next month I am in!

Thanks
