Which was the hard to find one that people were raving about? And why again?

it was the ol rsd3"

they were raving because it has almost perfectly flat response from *100 to 10,000hz

(that may be an incorrect range, but it was something close)

"The ol 3, huh" thanks, are they discontinued? Or are they just impossible to find? IIRC people were adding these to their existing comps, correct?

~170-17K 3db roll off above and below.

No tweeter, just a fabulous mid.

Is this a mid form the comps (I didn't even know they made 4 inchers) or just the co-ax w/ the tweeter disconnected?

Cool, so these were available when RSd came out and now they are gone?

What was this speaker's point? Just a 3.5" size for odd applications like little in dash speakers?

3.5" fits many OE applications for GM and VW but for the most part has not been needed in most install bays for several years. The newest vehicle I know of that uses this size is circa 95.

That's pretty amazing for a Radioshack style speaker :)

My '91 4Runner has 3.5" dash speakers stock, which is a large reason why I went with kick panels.

Perhaps so, but the kicker 3.5" speakers I put in for a while barely fit. Could just be the mounting size though.

nope, this is its own breed, i guess it could be compaired to the coax with no pole through it for the tweet.
