It would have no effect, because both pistons are still moving in the same direction, this is in comparison, to both speakers in polarity, with both cones out. It would sound the same. Both speakers are sharing the same space and thereforewill see half the air space no matter what you do. If you get them to see a larger space than actually existist, then you have some sort of physics bending design that I'm sure NASA would be interested in.
