Titanium vs RSD

Post by Drock »

I am currently powering 4x ti10d4's with a ti800.1. I am picking up another ti800.1 and I was going to go two subs on each amp. But I recently acquired an RSD 1200.1. What do you guys think of the RSD 1200.1. I have not hooked it up yet. Going to try it out tomorrow.

The ti is class a/b, the rsd is class d.
The rsd should hit harder and use less amps to do it.
The ti will sound better (my opinion) and tax you electrical system more

...with 2 ti800.1 running you will really need to beef up your electrical system

I already installed a second battery, upgraded wiring under hood to 2/0, 1ga to the back ( about 13' from battery ) grounds are 1ga at the amps as well. I'm thinking this will do the trick. Also debating weather or not to use caps.

I ran a TI 500.4 and TI1200.1 (to a TIElite 12D) and never had an electrical issue. I also did the big 3 and used all 1/0g wire from the alt to the 2nd battery (Kinetik 1800) and grounds without a single issue. Just my 2c. If your running a 2nd battery you shouldn't need any caps unless you're lookin for the bling factor.

The wiring sounds good, how many amps does your alternator put out?
I agree that with 2 battery you should not need a cap, but you can always experiment when you have it installed.

I just upgraded to a 130 amp alt. it was the biggest I could get. ( without having to do mods ) But I was told it should be able to keep up.
Before I did the upgrades to the electrical system the ti800.1 kept shutting down. I'm in the middle of building new enclosure now so I can't see if the upgrades will make a difference yet. Not sure if it was too much load for the amp with 4 subs, or the power was choked. But as I'm waiting to get another ti 800.1 from money b next week I'm going to try out the rsd1200.1 hopefully tomorrow.

I think the 1200.1 will make you very happy. I love my TI amps, and even the 600.2 on sub duty is plenty loud with 2sealed 10w3s, but the simple fact you are going from a/b to class d will make a difference on load and output. We've used 2 RSD 1200.1s, tantrum 500.4 and 500.2 on a stock Honda Pilot alt and just another stock battery a foot away from the amps and there is no dimming when playing it loud enough to affect your breathing, hehehe....

I do think the 800.1 is a/b, and there are some that say the 1200.1 can do 1400watts RMS.... have fun!

Well I pulled out the ti 800.1 and put in the RSD 1200.1, only I have not had time for building the new enclosure yet. So I ran it with an old box with 2 ti10d's. What a difference.. Night and day. I actually don't think the subs could handle the RSD if I turned up the gain. I have it at quarter right now.

I'm really liking the RSD amp. I've put it to work today. And it did not even get warm.
