Elite.1 amps

Post by stylez12321 »

I was wanting to know something. With a proper stout electrical setup do you guys think these amps could handle a .5 ohm load for daily use.

As expensive as the elites are. I wouldn't do it personally. It would be like trying to keep up to a Ferrari in a Prius. You could try, but it won't last very long.

I agree with Drock completely. If you need that kind of power buy two and strap them, or find a The One amp.

Well I cant get enough power @ 2 ohms. I have 4 dual 4 ohm TI2 15s and was hoping this amp could handle .5. I hate the fact these 15s aren't available in D2

2, or 4 subs? for 2 subs you just need to put both speakers coils in parallel(= 2 ohm load), and then parallel them to = a 1 ohm load.

put the coils in series on each sub to = an 8 ohm load. Now throw all 4 woofers into parallel wiring and you should net a 1 ohm load if the dilauded isn't making my math memory foggy now(in the hospital doped up on pain killers).

8 parallel to 8 = 4
4 parallel to 4 = 2

He can only hit 2 ohm.

Having said that, my experience running a 600 watt Ti sub is that they are inherently fragile over say 750 watts, which is what my Elite.5 makes. It's very easy to get the coils smelling. Especially after adding an alternator and adjustable regulator that can feed a constant 15 volts. The Elite.1 is going to make roughly 2800 watts at 2 ohms, and about 4100 watts at 1 ohm. I know those 15's are 800 rms, but I think I would be hesitant to run four off an Elite.1 at 1 ohm because it is SO underrated. You'd be feeding them each over 1000 watts rms at 1 ohm, more if you are giving the amp a clean 14 volts or more.

2 ohms will be PLENTY.

EDIT: Also, LOL at the idea of dropping it to 0.5 ohm. Even if it was stable, which it wouldn't be, you'd be looking at every bit of 5000-5500 watts rms to four 800 watt subs.

I have the option to buy this or another brand. Other company is 985 new and the elite.1 is 800 used which I know is a steal.

crap new the dilauded would screw that up.

Are they all in a single open box or are they separated? As he said that should be enough power and loud as hell.

I don't think anyone has seen the birth sheets yet, but two of them, each at 1 ohm would drive those 15's pretty nicely too. They're rated at 1300 rms at 1 ohm, so I would guess probably 1450 or 1500 or so would be the birth number.

I just came in from test driving four dd3512 d4 subwoofers on a single elite.1 for shits and giggles. Had to go for a drive in the country to find a spot to crank it up. Well after that I can say with confidence that the elite.1 is more than capable of running your ti15's. I will probably never run the four subs again though as I was sure my windows were going to blow out. I've seen vids on YouTube but never in person. But damn it was loud. There is no way I would sit in there.

You went out and ran it at .5 lol? I checked with a pretty good amp repair guy and he told me it should be fine. Ill try 2 ohm first when i get it and see how I like it.

for a short time the worst case scenario would be that it runs hotter. But for short time it should not be a big deal.

Box is still in the process of being built. Im about 1/2 way done with it. All 4 in one box just over 12 cubes tuned to 35hz. Im going to try it at 2 ohm first and see how it goes.

ah see I was thinking that you could do a series-parallel wiring that would get you just under 2 ohms but would cause two of your subs to have a little less power then the other two. IT would not be a huge deal if they were separated but in on big enclosure it would not be good.

12 cubes, why not just go get a used fridge and cut some holes in it? :)

make sure you add a lot of bracing as well as I would imagine it will have some large pieces in it that would be easy to flex for those cute little woofers of yours and that itty bitty amp to push them.....

If you wanna compete an spl contest, you.....can try.....but don't cry after if you blow up the amp.....

in the best situation the amp will go in a protection mode........

IMO "a pretty good amp repair guy" would totally not recommand you doing this, unless he is thinking

......when he blows up his amp, he comes to me to repair it....... :liar: :liar: :liar: :liar: :liar:

I would not go lower then a 1 ohm lead....if you have the feeling you don't have enough power,

work with 2 elite.1 amps or try to search for "the one".......

name one class D amp that can handle 0.5 ohm, all day long

When you inevitably try it, please take video. If the amp doesn't blow up, the subs will.

Are you crazy. Lol
Did you not read my previous post? Why would I say don't do that and then go ahead and try it. I ran it at 2ohm load. I was just stating that even at 2 ohms the elite.1 is more than capable of pushing the ti 15's very hard. The dd's I have are 1200rms each.

There are plenty of class d amps that run at .5 daily. They aren't warrantied for it but they do. Lanzar opti amps are rated at .5, sound stream DTR amps, mmats amps.
