old gen pg ti10d subs questions

Post by kg1961 »

hello everyone i picked up 2 older style ti10d. i will be using them for the rear channel bridged or stereo off my x200.4onyx. the box i currently own is a basswork port box 1.8cub.

what are the though with these subs ported or even sealed(i see the box are small for a older sub like .55cub)
as funny as it is i have never owned a ti sub other than the elite 12's
there just is not much info on the web.
thanks again

.75 sealed. And 1.2cuft ported 3"x13" was very loud and very tight. You will be very happy with them.

Mike, Derek got some of those TI10D's from me and had 2 running of a 600.2 in a .55cuft^3 sealed box and they slammed. Never ran them ported, but have always loved the TI 10's and 12's and is still my favorite sub to date with the exception of the Image Dynamics IDMAX 10d4 I'm currently running off my Elite.5.

I had the 4ohm svc (2)versions runnig at a 2ohm load off the 600.2 and swapped amps to a JL 500/1v2 and never had a problem powering both subs. They're rated at 450wrms each, but you should be just fine as that rating is their max constant rms rating before you start to "Cook" your coils.

so i tried the sub on my way into work today.
so here are my thoughts.
the sub are more filling of the seat area the bass is around you a little more and thats sound great with the mid bass but the output is almost the same :( as my 12w1v2 in a jl ported box . i do feel they need more power than i have right now so i hope this is changed with my new amp or playing with my gain and xover. I need to listen to some more of my cd to make a true if i love them or like them or not.
with that being said maybe its the box vs the subs. and the clarions were better suited for this box? all the bass is clean and can hit low but the sub are no better than the clarion i just bought.
Now i know they are 10 year old subs but i was hoping for a little more.
i will play with the setting and gain a bit so maybe it will change

I run a pair from each side of a ZX450 bridged, they sound fine with that power, made no difference when tried them both off a ZX600 in fact maybe a little worse. Great subs.

so i played with the sub yesterday. i have to say im not happy with vs the jl 12w1v2 in a pre made jl ported box or the 2 10"clarion i just tried.
I understand the box is not 1000% but the sub sound like i have turned down the bass gain almost off. but when i put the sub box up very close to my back trunk the bss increase. i can't have a sub box like that as we have kids. for now i will just use the jl since i own it and find something later. thanks again to everyone

so i picked up a set of jl 12w3v2 yesterday and I have to say these are super great im not a jl fan boy etc but they are like the clarion I just had plus more hit lower and more bass in my chest. I have to say that was the best couple hundred I have ever spent in years on subs

im not say the ti10d are bad they just didn't work with my box and my set up

Thats good to know. I didnt figure the 450 would have enough power for that. I may have to rethink the Chevette build.

I checked up what the ZX450 is doing bridged, its making 351wrms left / 348wrms right at 4Ohms, subs are the Ti 12'' versions 3.01Ohms, with I think 500w ratings. I know the ZX series dont increase much as you drop the load but seems to be fairly matched.
