x200.4 questions

Post by kg1961 »

i just got a x200.4 onyx love the look way better than the silve ones IMO. this is a large amp bigger than i thought. i like it almost as much as my frank or reactor. there something about it with the clean black line.
in my set up im just doing a set of 6.5 mid/tweeter so my front gain will be turned all the way down and the rear will drive some subs jl 12w3v2 @ 4ohm load so im guessing less than 1/2 and lpl. i should be getting some clean sound coming out of the jl clean sweep dsp mean it should take away the high and low and make a flat response of my stock unit.

should i use a line driver?
so my question is do i need to add the second power ground to my amp or will the one just be fine?

I know. I wish they had put as much attention into the looks on the new amps as they did on the Xenons and even the Tantrums. I think the Onyx Xenons look sick as hell.

If ya wanna get the most outta that bad boy I would recommend using both power connections on the amp to make sure it's gettin' all the juice it needs.

The Xenon FAQ on this site says if it has dual +/-, you should use them. Not sure exactly why but i have read of people damaging their amps by not using them. That was mainly on the mono amps but still, they must be there for a reason. If it were mine, i would.

Just so happens I have a BNIB Black finish PLD1 Line Driver that arrived at my house today that I don't need. I'll let it go for what I've got in it and eat the shipping on my end if you want it. You can read the bass cube thread if you want the back story.

Its all about current draw. As long as your wiring setup can supply enough current, you can get away with using one set of the terminals.
