Interior square footage...

Post by Wrennagade »

I have 7 rolls of PG Deadliner that I've been saving for this 4runner install but know it won't be enough for entire vehicle. Hopefully it will cover all the doors. I was curious as to what the best way to measure the areas of my interior so I don't get too much or too little sound deadener. Also, should I dampen the floor as well? It is my daily driver & I wanna do it right but not overkill if not needed...

Anyone have a good hookup on deadener?

Also, what is the best option for fan cooling for the MS1000 if I decide to go that route? I know each board has a fan power plug but not sure if I'd wanna use that or just tap off of the ends. I would be running two sets of PG Ti6.5CS as I don't think I'll find the older elite set anytime within my budget. Plus I hear the CS are actually pretty good speaks for the price (& I got them at a great price from the bay).

Aaaaaannnddd....
Can anyone recommend some kick ass mid bass drivers that aren't too spendy? Maybe even some shallow-mount that might fit under front seats so I wouldn't need to rebuild door panels to fit them in...

Thanks guys.

What year 4-runner? I just sold my 98. I had hertz 6" hi-energy speakers in my door. Spaced the window track back and built a spacer ring. Tight fit but tons of mid bass. Not sure on the fan thing. I usually use a small squirrel cage fan and use the remote turn on with a relay. That way if the amp thermals the fan will still cool the amp.

2000 Limited. Was thinking about installing MS1000 in rear door with a fiberglassed surround made to mimic the original interior panel with the amp inside. Would be heavy so have a few things to consider if I do it, would look really sick though, and be out of sight when closed even though the glass is tinted. Thought about roof mounting the reactor as well...could run the comps & mid bass off it with the 1200.1 pushing my sub. Maybe put the 1200 in the rear door and have some space left for my CUBE or DD10...

For the midbass driver, I would recommend Focal K2 series, the driver from KRX3 set or KBE series. I believe those drivers can fir nicely under your seat. They sound good, but if you use PG MS1000, I wouldn't recommend the driver from the KRX3 series, easy to break if the power too much, happened to me before. Those drivers surely beats scanspeak, or any other brand in the kick ass section.

If I use the MS1000 I'd prob just power the 6.5CS comps & get a 400.2 to power the midbass. If I use the reactor, I could run the comps & midbass off of it. Prob wanna upgrade to something really nice if I used the MS1000 as it produces so much power, it'd be overkill for the CS comps...

Those focals are a little rich for my blood as well. There is a pair of 5" for $169 0n there though...

Are you talking the rear hatch. If so the window control brain is in there and not much room. Wire running through the boots would be a nightmare. I broke a RCA just trying to get my backup camera in the boot. And I wouldn't recommend it because of undue stress you would put on your amp every time you close the hatch. Personally I would flush it into the passenger side panel. The gas fill is on the drivers. Way more room on the pass side. I've been installing for 18 yrs and seen the pros and cons. Hope this helps.

Hmmm. Good points there I hadn't considered. Maybe the reactor on the ceiling will be a better option, as I will have 6 channels of play for speakers & the low end off the 1200...

Just span the braces. Not a lot of support up there. And check the screws about once a month. Hate to have vibrations back a screw out and the amp fall.
