Help with Route 66 artwork

Post by boostjunkie33 »

Hi all, long time lurker just picked up my holy grail. I always wanted a Route 66 (i practically lived at the local PG dealer back then) and finally found one for a reasonable sum. It is in pretty good shape but not perfect and I would like refinish it. I have not been able to find any vector images to reprint the original artwork. Can anybody help? thanks in advance and I look forward to sharing pics of my collection of old amps.

I think you are in luck. I know of two guys who likely have just what you need, and it is probably just a matter of time until they read your message and help out.

If you're referring to mhyde71 I have pm'd him already. Unfortunately I have not heard back from him. I think my next step will be to scan in the artwork and try to rebuild it. Thanks for the replies!

yup that's the man. I have not seen him post on here for a while but it might just mean he got busy. He was just showing us a new process he had that would be perfect for this. Reminded me of the logos powdered on my mountain bike.

I have been trying to get Matt to do some work for me but he seems really busy. We were emailing back and forth a couple of months ago and he takes a while to respond. Be patient, his work seems to be worth the wait.

So to update I tried scanning the artwork with a 900 dpi scanner. It didn't work as well as I had hoped. Looks like I'll have to wait for a response from Matt.

I've had some luck taking stuff in to a vinyl shop and having them work with it. A good shop might be able to make you stencils from vinyl and you can try doing the paintwork yourself.

I never connected with Matt, I guess he's just too busy, which is great for him. Luckily none of my projects really needed him.

She sure is pretty. I like the more vintage look but I understand the want to have it perfect. Post pics when ever you get her done.

Been a long while but thought I'd update this thread. Still no artwork from Matt. Emailed back and forth for a year and a half but no further ahead than I was when I started. I packed her away for now and just decided to run my hifonics viii's. I'm pretty disappointed but I guess things don't always work out. On the plus side I forgot just how great the viii's were/are. Hopefully somebody else has these images so I can complete my resto.

Matt is redoing a FAS for me right now. He's still around and still doing PG stuff. Keep up with him, he's busy but worth the extra effort.

Matt is slow to get stuff done but he does great work. As far as getting the file, I hope you can. Maybe I'll see if he can send me the file as well so that I can forward it to who ever needs it in the future (and I have a guy who can silk screen using vector files).

Are you still looking to have it redone?

I haven’t had the rt66 logo remade but I did just have this custom one made.
