Prob not. Shipping to Oregon and back may be more than local powder coating. Depends how far away you live I guess. You like black?

I found a great powder coater in my area. He charged me $100 to strip and powder the parts for 4 ZPA amps plus the casing from a distribution block. It came out great and he offered to redo anything that gets chipped during reassembly. Nothing chipped though, so it's good quality,

an easy way to keep track of the screws you take out and where they go is to take a piece of tape(doesn't matter really) the length of the amp and take put on small piece of tape on each end so the sticky sides are together. Now flip that piece over and use the two pieces on the end to hold it down directly above/below your amp. When you take a screw out just move up directly above it to the tape and stick it to the tape. You can just stick it to a wall somewhere until it comes back and then put it back in the same place and it makes it easy to remember where the screws go

That's a good idea about the screws. What I do is I use little disposable containers that My wife buys at 'fart and smile' (smart and final) to store little baby food meals that she makes. They are perfect size, and I label the top with a sharpie with the model and serial number. It doesn't tell me where the screw goes but I can remember what screw goes where.

Are you getting the plexi windows polished out or replaced with clear ones?

I see 4 amps there. I replaced the LEDs on all of the amps that you got from me with new blue ones. They might be a little brighter than OEM ones. If you want 3 more LEDs for the other amp so they will all match let me know, I have a big bag of them.

Beautiful.....engraving sounds 10x more sexier than silk-screening. Are the gains/rcas/speaker/power side going to be engraved as well with the info, that would be awesome if possible.

Be careful when assembling them not to place a long screw on the fan shroud....I had to repair one where the owner placed the wrong screw and it went right through the pcb.....yep you guessed it, it shorted the top and bottom contacts and fried all the fets in the power supply.

Good advice I'll watch out for that. I still need to find some isolation tape to put under the fets like the factory did. And the plan is to put all the logos and writing back on them.

In for pictures of the engraving. That sounds like it is going to be sweet! How does the engraving work? Did they scan the images before the blasting of the original lettering or are you going to go with your own font?

Thanks

I took a whole bunch of pics. He said it shouldn't be a problem putting all the old writing and logos back on. It my cousin so I'm pretty sure I can trust him. I want to go down to the silver base metal and then clear coat them.

Blasted then powder coated the cases. The engraver is kinda like a ball point dremmel hooked to a c&c machine. Program the computer with the stuff you want engraved, center the part and the machine does the rest. It basically takes the powder coat off exposing the orig steel. Clear coat when done because I don't want the rust coming back.

Engraving should be done next week. Then some clear and reassemble. That shouldn't take too long.
