I thought you guys might get a kick out of this! I wanted to run that little Orion amp hard for a while before giving it to a friend. I hauled up my old box from my jetta, put it all together and ran the amp like I stole it for the whole day.
Yes, my workshop is a mess. I'm used to it . The power supply on the center channel is plenty large, is a server power supply and it does 90 Adc with 110v input, or 100 Adc with 220vac. The thing is rock solid even though the DC output voltage is a bit in the low side.
Here are the pics :

Re: Test load...
I've got a couple of server PSUs I use as supplies. They are good for around 90A @12v. Fairly cheap to.

Re: Test load...
Yeah, the HP supplies are rated for 90 amps continuous on 110Vac, however, if I remember right, they pull more than 15 amps, so they should be the only load on most residential 110V circuits. I ran a 220Vac 60 amp supply up to my attic, because I eventually plan to run at least two of these supplies in parallel. Lots of people strap them for higher current capability (careful with this, they are SMPS and so it's not just as simple as putting them in parallel or series). The big downside is that if you adjust the feed back loop inside to do more than ~12.8 Vdc, they shut themselves down. As far as I have seen, no one has really reverse engineered the supply enough to fix the OV threshold issue.
