That's not what I said, but since you asked, no I would not consider the average Fluke handheld meter to be anything more than a average DMM. They are well extremely well built and more robust than many offering, but once you get into the ~$200 and up range for multimeters, there is really very little difference in quality. I would personally rather have a top of the line Agillent DMM then a fluke, I'm never going to shell out a grand for a DMM though, so it is a moot point.

What I said is that this is specialty test gear territory. Again, Fluke makes some very nice specialty test gear, however, as far as I can tell they do not currently and never have offered a LCR meter, benchtop or otherwise. They simply do not have the right tool for the job and no matter how nice their tools are, basic capacitance tester in the DMMs do not have the range for these very low value capacitors.

Thanks,
Jason

Hi Jason!

First I have to say: great work!!! :D
I am really glad that there are still some guys who invest their time and energy in repairing things instead of thowing them away!

A few words about my situation:

I am new here and I found your topic by accident while I was searching for a replacement for the DLogixs DLM4500 driver.

I have a nice "Phase Evolution Opus Ultra" at home and I'm looking forward to install it in my car next year.

The problem is that there is no support for this amp anymore because the manufacturer has been bought by another brand and disappeared from the market. In some other forums some guys mentioned that the amp ist not repairable if the DLM-board is damaged. So I wasn't sure if I should keep this amp or if it's better to sell it as long as it is functional. All these years (approx. 8 ) the amp hasn't been used... I just testet it. It's still good as new. The attached pictures come from another identical amp except of the bad shape.

I would be very glad if you are still active and we could exchange some information about the DLM-driver. I am not very familiar with electronics, but I would really like to keep the amp as long a possible. At the moment it should work fine... but I always have bad luck ... so I hope that there's a affordable way to replace the DLM if necessary.

Thank you in advance!

Greetings from Germany,

Andreas
