Bypassing crossover board in ZX450

Post by mitchwolos »

Hi guys. I've recently given my friend one of my spare amps (ZX450) and am using it to run components active. But the processing is done before the amplifier. There is a slight engine noise intermittently. And I would like to bypass/remove the crossover board. It has some corrosion on it and all the pots are noisy. I'm thinking it's the culprit.

Has anyone attempted this?

Yes, you can bypass the crossover board. I suggest that instead, you just remove the pots and hard wire resistors in their place. If they are noisy, they will have to be removed at some point anyway. Can you post a photo of the corrosion you are referring too on the board? I am not sure it is really the source of your engine noise.
