LPL44 question

Post by capitolj80 »

Hey guys. I just installed an LPL44 and I'm not sure if I need to make some adjustments to my setup or if I got a dud. Currently, when turned all of the way down, it seems to kill sub output completely. When cracked open the smallest amount my fingers can move it, it jumps to about 70% of what the output would be without it plugged in. Output increases to 100% at about 1/2 dial. From 1/2 to full dial, no discernable change. The sub output level on the HU (RCA voltage level I assume) is set at 30 out of 40. No bass boost being using. Low frequencies on graphic eq are +-0. I have the gain on the ti2 1600.5 sub section a little over half way because it seems to sound about right there.

is it a legit lp44 and not one someone else made? it almost sounds like the pot doesn't have a linear output which some do not.

You say the rca output is at 30 or 40 - you don't mean a low pass cross over do you?
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

Not a cross over. 30 out of a possible 40 on the HU sub output level. The item came with a PG LPL44 info/installation paper. However item and paper we're both shipped loose in a USPS box. I hope it's legit.

Are you using this on the Ti21600.5? If so, I don't think the old style LPL will work.

Yes, it's on a ti2 1600.5. It technically operates, just in a nonsensical manner. Is there a different/newer lpl I should be using?

Here's a link to the newer style: http://phoenixgold.com/catalog/amplifie ... el-control

If the pots are a different value, then there would be an issue. I'm not sure what the new pot value is or what type of taper it is (linear, audio, etc...). I know the older one is 50kohm, but I'm not sure if its linear or audio.
