good spl/sw woofer.....
I am curently using a rsd 12 inch woofer....i am thinking abt upgrading to the competition series woofer...b4 doing tht,i would rly like to knw will there be a lot of diff??right now my box sealed..so,i cant listen to musch r&b songs...can the competition series woofer giv me both sq and spl??and shud i go with 10' or 12'??

You can listen to any music you want using a sealed box , IMO a sealed box hits more of the notes than most ported boxes do. Yes , a ported box seem to really push alot of the notes louder on rap and r and b but maybe ya need to change some other settings if r and b sounds bad. I think sealed vs ported really comes down to preferences. If you need a one-note-wonder box for specific kinds of music, ported is definitely the way to go.
From what I've seen, most "overall" SQ people lean towards sealed and most "tons of output" and SPL people lean towards ported but I know that isn't the end all be all of the discussion.
Also for increased output, you have to consider cabin gain and which way your sub is facing to produce the most cabin gain possible. Try pointing your subs back, forward, whatever and see what setup has the most output.
