Reactor vs elite.5

So I pulled my reactor and put in my elite.5. Thought I'd take a couple of measurements before and after. Pretty close on the highs but the reactor has more on the sub. Tests are with no loads so not surprising considering the reactor does a 4ohm load and the elite will go to 1. Even with them both at 4ohm the elite seems to have more punch and volume. Can't wait to rewire the subs to 1ohm and see what it can do.

So the zx500 has more output at a 4 load than the elite's sub side at 1. Thats fucking crazy, i cant wait to get my redone zx500 in now wahoo

I'm not surprised my elite makes around 800 at 2ohms and around 1200 @1.

All the tests are no load knight. The elite will go to 1 ohm and do way more than the zx500. Voltage x current / resistance if I remember right. So say the car is 14 volts and the amp is 20 volts. So 280 / resistance. Divide by 4 and get 70 watts. Divide by 1 and get 280 watts. So at 4 ohms the zx will have more power. After driving around last night though I think the elite has better tone and punch at 4 ohms.

I went from a zx950 to the elite5 and have never regretted it.

Elite.5 at 1 ohm will make double the power of ZX500 at 4 ohms bridged.

Its also substantially more efficient.

no experience with the elite amps yet, but i'm expecting them to be great great high end amps.......

i had 4 or 5 zx500 bench tested,

they all had around 2x 165-170w rms at 4 ohm stereo, and

brigded 1 x 4 ohm = around 500w rms

brigded 1 x 2 ohm= around 550w rms

with all of the zx amps, after 5-15 years, the bias has to be set again to a good level.....

most people don't know this and test and listen to zx amps who haven't been serviced witch result in

never can make a good judgement of this amp........

the day i have an elite amp in my hands i will make a comparision with the oldskool.............

you can Always use the reactor for a full active 3way system in the front and add a elite.1 as sub amp......

that will result in way more power..........

here are my thoughts
elite are huge sound like pg with a little 8) but they take up way more space than needed I just sold my elite.4 to make way for recapped and recoated zxti
also they demand a shit ton of power so not for most.
I would keep the reactor

Ohh never said my reactor was going anywhere. Just swapping amps and thought I'd do a little comparison. The reactor will prob go in my 66 mustang. A nice old school amp for an old school car :D . The elite is an extremely accurate amp. The clarity is awesome and I'm loving the dampening factor. It just controls the speakers
