rf t1 12 or pg ti12 elite

Post by bass junkie »

So I have an rf t1 12 right now and I have to say I'm disappointed with the sub. It does not hit the low bass hardly at all and sounds shitty on the highs. The mids are the only thing that sounds good. So my question is will the pg elite 12 have better SPL and SQ?

Comoared to that t1 cough junk cough, the elite will have WAY better both, but primarily a ton more spl.

Those things are power hungry as hell!!!! And btw, need a huge box. If u get an elite, u better know what ur doing and support it or ull fall flat on ur face.

What amp are u running?

Yeah im going to have a custom box built for it. Right now I will be running a rf1200-1d so I might get something with more power because it will only run 130 rms at 1 ohm.

I have had t1's and the pg ti12d (old version). They are both power hungry and hit nasty lows in the CORRECT box. I emphasize the CORRECT box. The t1's have a heavy cone and fall off hard above 70hz. I'm assuming you plan on getting the newer version of the pg elite 12 right? I have not used that model so I would be of no help there, but I believe the box you have the t1 in is your downfall. It should have no problem shaking your seats at 20hz if you let it.

Here is the box I had a pair of t1 10's in and it was insane. I personally think they are well built subs. Not musically friendly but they get loud in the right box.

Here is the box I had the ti elite in. The elite definitely has a leg up on the t1's as far as sql goes. I had this thing with only 1000 watts running to it and it was very loud and was very clean. They just aren't in the same class. All in all, the elite is the way to go. You may just want to get the version 2 elite that just came out. From what it sounds like, it will be much like the old school version. You will need to get a good set of components to get midbass though. That sub will also drop hard above 80 hz.

Thanks for the info I have the elite 2 and it's bad ass but I can't get it to hit the mids. What would you suggest to get more of a variety of bass instead of only low.

In a 3.3 net cubic ft box tuned at 45 it should stomp on the 35-50hz range. You sure its tuned that high? Personally I'd go with the pg specs for that sub. I just plugged the numbers in win isd and it seems the "spl" style box they recommend will give you a little of both worlds of the bass spectrum. 1.75 net cubic ft tuned at 38. The big box you have that sub in now makes the sub very peaky. I'm sure it pounds, but it's clearly not what you're looking for. Also I would suggest a good set of components up front. It will help with your loss of midbass.

Yes I did have a couple bad subs right out of the box.

But now that I have everything sorted out. I have zero complaints. At 34 hz my setup sounds pretty clean and the lows are insane.
At 44-56hz it hurts.

I prefer sq, but we don't have any sq comps here that I'm aware of. So I'm doing spl just for fun and meet cool people.

Most of the guy in the comps are older guys, so it makes me feel better. I'm not the only stereo junkie. :)
