I cloned the ZPAXO cards.

I have a version that is basically bone stock with a few small upgrades. My "stock" cards have Burr Brown differential receivers, all film caps are WIMAs, and the wet caps are a little higher quality as well. The op-amps are the JRC parts that the board came with from the factory. Boards are fully gold plated, but due to the unavailability of transparent solder mask like PG used, most of the gold plate is not visible... Boards are pretty much an exact copy of the stock part.

I have another version that is the same as above, except it has all high quality Burr Brown op-amps as well. This was a little tricky to do as the card uses the single inline 8 pin package for the op-amps, and that is almost exclusive to the New Japan Radio Corporation, so to get Burr Browns in that footprint took some effort. I designed a small pcb that would allow me to mount a SMD SO-8 package op-amp in almost the same footprint as a SIP8. It takes 9 of these additional boards as well as nine of the much more expensive op-amps and a lot more of my time to put these ones together, so they are not cheap. They are however very good sounding pieces. I was of the opinion that the op-amp change was not going to be audible, so from the start I only ordered enough parts to do one board like this. I was shocked that I could hear a difference. I'm sure some of it is confirmation bias-- but I am not sure how much could be since I thought it was a waste of money going in, but I knew some people would want it so I pushed forward to get a working design. Anyhow, I like them, and so far the great majority of the cards I have sold on the facebook groups have all been the burr brown version.

Prices are as follows:

Standard cards: $100 each shipped in the continental US. I will ship overseas, I charge actual shipping, no extras, just PM me for a quote.

Audiophile cards (out of stock until ~5/30/18-- I had to order more adapter PCBs): $185 each shipped in the continental US. I will ship overseas, same deal as above.

Here are some pics of the work:

Hello Jason, very impressive.
If you can do this… maybe you can make some new fan board PCB’s for the ZPA’s?

Thanks, I plan to do the power supply board because some other members have asked for it. Joe Branam had the idea to make the diode mod switchable, and I think I'm going to roll that right into the factory board so it looks stock.

I can do the fan board as well. The 0.3 I just bought had some issue with the fans, so I'll be pulling it's fan board anyhow. I'll let you know what I come up with.

Thanks,
Jason
