Slow install in Peugeot 406
Slow install in Peugeot 406
I know it's not a full install yet, but dwnrodeo and i have been talking and i promised to show of what little progress i have.
This summer sucked in Denmark, rain, rain and more rain And i dont have a garage so it is work in the driveway and thats no fun when it rains
Time also slipped my fingers, got divorced in April and i have my kids every weekend so that steals much of my time and i have limited time during the weekdays so...
My only progress is damping and system planning
Well enough of the excuses, it is picture time

Re: Slow install in Peugeot 406
System design will be:
Rsd65 in front powered by M100
Sld44
M100 to subs
Connection audison install gear
Bass cube
Tidd10
Subs will either be a pair of xmax 12" or a 15" CV It15d4, have to see what works best ( and how much space it takes, this is my daily driver).
Maybe i will use my Alpine cdplayer, i would like to keep it stock looking, but there is a limit to what i will accept
Rear speakers may be switched to my 6,5" xenons, that would require another amp so...
Feel free to comment but please bear in mind that my progress is slow because of the lack of a garage
I will be taking pics of everything i install so hopefully this will be as good as all the other awesome installs you guys have- i salute you

Looking good so far. I like your system design, you may have to go with the Alpine though and not retain full stock appearance.

Sounds like a great plan!
Man, I would love to get my hands on an M100. Although I'm extremely happy with the M25 and M44, I'd love to use an M100 on the sub.

Re: Slow install in Peugeot 406
just curious, what part of denmark? My dad is danish and immigrated when he was 17 years ago but we did make a couple of trips back there to see his family. Super nice country although the schnapps hang-over we had still lingers in our thoughts. Dear god what were we thinking playing with 190 proof....
Sounds like a good start to the system. If you think your working slow, I should show you my progress.....

Thank you for the kind words
John, i may use my alpine, even though i love the steering wheel remote for my oem HU, I'm thinking the same as you are, I may have to buy a newer HU that supports that (although there is a Denon DCT1000r for sale close to me for 90$, I'm tempted )
ttocs, i come from Jutland, a little town called Jelling, it was the first capital in the unified Denmark under the viking king Harald Bluetooth (honestly, that was his name) so i sometimes like to dwell in old Nordic folklore, Odin, Thor, Valhalla etc....
When i gain world domination i will allow Danes to go raping and pillaging once again, it will make vacations soooo much more fun (for Danes, that is)

Re: Slow install in Peugeot 406
my father lived in copanhagen for the times he was there(till 17). Worked in tivoli garden in the daily parade and like I said has family all across that countryside. Dads longtime joke was that the vikings were just the worlds first tourists and a bit misunderstood...thingy wrote:Thank you for the kind words

Made these today at work, they're made of 10mm aluminum, hopefully they'll fit so the mids will be securely mounted
And yes i have a feeling i would be misunderstood too if i went pillaging in the UK

Re: Slow install in Peugeot 406
Well, i decided to go for a replacement HU so i dropped by the dealer to order a frame for my car so i could mount my 7893 and while there, i stumbled upon this: http://www.alpine.dk/p/Products/cd-head ... /cda-117ri
So i checked the price and it was on sale from 601$ down to 415$, to keep it short (i really like my steering wheel remote) it now lies here beside me and i went back to system design, if the Rsd's sound great if they're driven active i might get the imprint for it, otherwise i will leave it in the store.
Anyone tried running the Rsd's active?

Re: Slow install in Peugeot 406
I ran the Rsd's active for a year off of a Ti500.4 and was extremely impressed with the way the Rsd's sounded, but I'm now running them passive off of a Roadster 66 and they sound just as good. I would run the M100 to the Rsd's run passively just to keep tuning simple.

Re: Slow install in Peugeot 406
So we had a spring day, sun was out and the temperature was great, my ex wife has the kids so what better way to spend an afternoon than finishing the trunk damping ?
Next step will be wiring, got to do the big three and install the audio wires, i think i will go for the 2 12" xmax in a vented enclosure and make some kind of amp install in the spare well, but that space may go to the dd10, bass cube and distributor, any comments appreciated

Re: Slow install in Peugeot 406
Got the new Alpine installed with steering wheel remote adapter and all, damn there is limited space behind the stock HU, i had to remove the display located higher up to get in from above to make the wire loom fit (please insert bad language here)
After getting the Alpine going, i realized i had to do something to the doorcards, so off they went and got 4 sheets of damping each, cant wait to hear if that will do it or it needs more...
The rear doors don't have speakers in them so i'll leave them alone (for now anyways...)
The new radio frame is black, it looks worse in the pic than irl, but i might get it painted to blend in to the silver/grey the other pieces have, i haven't decided yet.

Re: Slow install in Peugeot 406
Kinda sad, this install will never finish
I had to trade it because i got a new job that is further away from home and i was spending 200$ a week on gas, so i went on the lookout for a more economical car.
Well, i bought a Peugeot 207 1.6l diesel instead, it only has 3.000 km on it so it should be good for 5-6 years of service to me (I'll be driving 40-50.000 km/year)
It'll cut my fuel budget into 100$ a week
It almost has the same speaker locations as my 406 and a din HU so i can get going on an install, i don't know if I'm weird but that actually means something to me when i buy a car, it has to have a decent install possibility.
Some pictures below
There is plenty of room in the tire well, so I'm back to square two on system design (Alpine HU is going in as soon as i get my adapter)
The wheel is the one I'm planning on putting on in 7x17" with 205/45 tires (my ex-wife bought a new car with 17" on it and i can't have smaller wheels than her )

Re: Slow install in Peugeot 406
Bummer about not being able to finish your install in your old car, especially after starting the sound deadening. $200 a week in fuel is costly so I can totally understand where your coming from. I wish we had more diesel options here in the U.S. because of the higher price of fuel, but diesel cars are not very popular here. Those rims look sick and I too choose a vehicle with a stereo system design in mind, you're not alone.

Dropped in a set of 6, 5" ti coaxes in the rrar doors today, they will be powered by the hu, the stock blaupunkt will stay, it has bluetooth and usb connection so i will use a sld44 to feed my amps, if it'll be a pair of m100s or a single m44 i haven't deicided yet. Front will be 6, 5" rsd comps and sub will be a 10" xmax
