I need help with a tweeter

Post by Eric D »

I need to find a replacement Rockford Fosgate tweeter from many moons ago...

FNQ 1401 or
FNQ 2401

If you have any or know of any, please let me know. I have one that failed on me, and I don't wish to replace the whole component set unless I have no choice.

I don't have much experience with those comps but I can tell you that there are a few used sets on Ebay right now. This one may have the tweets your looking for but comes with mid bass drivers as well.

I could not find any sets with tweeters on eBay. The set you have the link too actually have MB Quart tweeters in the photos, not Rockford ones.

I have a feeling these are going to be too rare to find.

I don't have a Facebook account.

I dug around last night looking for something unrelated and I came across 2 FNQ prototype tweeters I had. I am going to try them out and see if they will work.

Yes this may be a hard find.. hopefully the protos work out or you may have to mix it up with something that has similar characteristics. I have some old MTX Thunder Pros that are a nice soft dome in the garage if you need them. Good luck Eric.

I have to stick with originals as they mount co-axially with the midrange on the speaker grill.

Normally I would be OK with changing them to something more modern.

that's the set I have ...
all I remember was that the tweeter was mounted in the middle of the grill

That is close to correct, but is the bottom of the line P series not the top of the line Q series.

Mylar domes in the P vs aluminum in the Q. Also, the Q tweeters handle more power I believe, but I don't know how, as they have the same motor structure in all three lines, P, X, and Q.
