What PG amps are simular in size/layout to ZX450 ?
What PG amps are simular in size/layout to ZX450 ?
My ZX450 stopped working so I need a replacement. It needs to fit in the same install location , what PG amps would you recommend, roughly same power output or more , would prefer all the controls/inputs etc on one side. I'm completely out of touch with PG amps past the Xenon series so don't know if the last 10 years worth of amps are worth buying. What do you recommend ?

if your happy with it why not track another down or getting this one repaired? I would but I never liked much after the zx line
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

I have one to sell but I I live in Europe...
Re: What PG amps are simular in size/layout to ZX450 ?
Yes very happy with it, has always done me well. Just checking my options in case I cannot get it fixed.
I am going to try to get it repaired. I'm in Canada so don't have the repair network like you do in the US. Not sure what kind of shop to take it to have it repaired. Local stereo shops no doubt just ship it out and charge markup fee
Thnx for offer, shipping from Europe would probably be $$$$$

its not hard but the past few years getting anything across the boarder has got insane. I would not doubt it would be $50-75 each way.

Exactly, its the cost of shipping that has become ridiculous. Not to mention, sometimes Customs are pricks and they will tax you on the value of the amp and not the repair job.
The Ti series is the exact same or close enough amp right ? But, is the Ti the one that rusts out on the cover over time ? My ZX cover in white is still in nice shape.

I read something literally 10 mins ago that ups is supposed to be raising its rates over the boarder
yes ti is supposed to have a little more power and it does rust. I use to put a good coat of clear over my Ti stuff and never had an issues.

If you are close to the Michigan side of the border you could drive it across to me.
Aside from that, the ti500.4 is practically the same amp. The zx475ti is also the same as the 500.4, but the ZxTi line normally had the bad caps in it. It's possible for the TI line to have them as well, but less likely.

I'm closer to Syracuse than any other US city. Are there "better" caps that can be installed so this should not be an issue down the road ?
TTOCS - Did you just spray it with a can of clear from say Home Depot ? That's an interesting idea.

What is not working on it? How bad did it die?
It may be possible to repair it yourself.
Another consideration is a board swap. Shipping may be cheaper.
I have a friend with a seasonal business in Pulaski NY, north of Syracuse. He is there all of September and October.
If you got it to him, he would get it to me, but you would be looking at a one year turnaround, unless I shipped it back to you.

Also, I suggest you consider trying one of these...

No, it is not a ZX450, but you might be shocked how great it works for the money.
A friend of mine stuck one of the 5-channels in his vehicle a few months back and we are both very impressed with it.
