Very nice.. T. Hoover is Tom Hoover, a Chrysler engineer like Joerg stated, who is known as the father of the Hemi.

Re: First owned PG product?
Mine was a M100 which I used to replace my RF Punch 200ix to run my two 15 inch RF woofers (15 years ago) ... now I have 4 PG amps in various states of disrepair, working on a project that will use a M50 and a XVR12 in my Pickup. No more RF here.

AUTHORIZED internet retailer? no bargain basement prices?
How about an authorized online retailer that doesn't offer bargain basement prices.. Crutchfield comes to mind. Not sure if they would be interested, just thought of them. Plus if they carried PG, I could go their store in Charlottesville and they would be local.

That is about what I had in the 90's.. 2 15 RF subs in the back seat of my 1978 Chrysler Cordoba powered by a M100 bridged... and 2 3 1/2 Kicker R3's in the dash off the deck... My friends called the car Chocolate Thunder.. (it was a metallic brown color). Now being old, like what Nick was saying, m...

XVR12 (2 ohm)
I have an XVR12 and I am going old school (90's)... using it my little standard cab pickup truck with an M50 and a 2 ohm single 10 inch woofer.. If you shop around, I am sure you can find it more inexpensively. I think I got mine about 5 years ago for 60 bucks.

new mustang
V-6, 305 HP, 31 MPG. This is the car that gives me hope the Obama administration/current senate new Cafe standards will not ruin performance cars for the common man! And, I myself am a Mopar guy. Still won't buy one, but I hope it causes GM and Chrysler to step up.

Dakota owners unite!
I have a 2000 Dakota Standard cab and I am planning a small install. I have found too that you don't realize how much you like your plain everyday ride, until you don't have it. The plan is... 1 M50 (in the process of recapping), Qforms kick panels, a PG R6 component set, PG R5.25 coaxials, a 3 inch...

Call me a conspiraracy theorist... but these days I think you need to stick with what is paid for. I don't think you want to be dependent on any bank.

socketed chips-- you mean op amps?
Right now I have a pair of BB OPA627AU SMD chips on 2 single 8-pin adapters for the Op amps. This is for the uniqueness factor. I found a cheaper alternative to the more expensive brown dog adapters. If it doesn't work, I'll change it back to a more widely accepted op amp solution.

Eric D- you continue to be a big help to me, and everyone in this forum.. I have another question. The devices to the left of the FET's are what devices? I know one is labled "SF163", "SF163A" and look like they have a difference in polarity labeled as: ~+~ and ~-~ respectively. ...

WHY?!
I thought the general consensus was it's a total waste of time 'upgrading' these as you can't even hear it. In my case, I like to "indvidualize" my car, my computer, almost anything I tinker with. While you are right that you probably can't "hear" it. If it makes it more bullet ...

M50 ULTIMATE AMP build- help
I have been at my quest to rebuild the "ultimate" M50 for awhile now. I have used the excellent posts here, like Eric D's resistor flush with the heatsink method, as well as the cap replacement and some Burr Brown op amps. This leads to my next question. I saw a post some where on here tha...

FETS M50 ZR44 vs. ZR48
It seems like in one of these posts in rebuilding a M50, someone recommended replacing the ZR44 FETS with the ZR48 model. They mentioned this is because the device can handle more current, so it would be an upgrade. Does anyone have any ideas or feedback about this?

m50 Toshiba 2SC3281 HELP!!
I am hoping I can get some assistance with this. I bought a PG M50 off the bay awhile back. While I was in the process of inspecing the amp to re-cap it I noticed it had been "repaired". One of the black Toshiba output devices (2SC3281) has been replaced with a generic one. I can't see tha...

Wow the conjecture and discussion has been great.. I am glad that I had the question regarding my M50. Thanks for the well thought out responses and the assistance.
