Re: Check out what I'm putting together for my bro!
I had these nice amps in my closet collecting dust so I sold them to my bro. As you can see in the pic I'm in the middle of wiring things up on the amp rack. I would have used these myself but I need more power to my components. Man... The original Nelson Pass D200 has a sweet sound! He'll be using...

ok, another quick question
I've also found a mod for the factory headunit that'll allow it to accept an aux-in. However, I'll have two inputs that'll I'll want to use. The Soundgate AUX 3 item sounds like it would solve my dilemna but it's discontinued and it also looks like Kicker killed the whole line of products. Is there ...

The 6 isn't parametric though, like he was looking for. Parametric allows you to adjust the frequency and Q (within a range) so you can more accurately EQ your equipment (albeit with less overall bands). However without an RTA I wouldn't bother with this at all (parametric or non), since it will be...

Without being too expensive are there any line driver/ para-eqs available? I know Audio Control has some but the eq's are fixed frequency with the sub channel having para-eq. I was wanting 3 or 4 bands of para-eq if possible. If not, then I might just go with a straight 6 channel line driver. That ...

I would throw that ZX450 at the Polk's or Pioneer's( running active ), I would throw the crossfire 404s at the rear speakers ( bridged output ), and put that Crossfire 602 on the subs. That'd be great but I'm not sure if my stock alternator would concur. It is an uprated alternator though, cold wea...

I am personally a big fan of OEM integration. I did that in my Saab. As it turns out, the stock headunit was a Pioneer with balanced line outputs! Since I don't listen to MP3 CDs, there was no need for an aftermarket HU. I used an AudioControl Four.1 to add an aux-in jack for my iPod on rare occasi...

looking to bounce some ideas
I'm trying to work through some options for my next setup but some of the things on the list are items I haven't used before so I was wanting to get some feedback on the ideas to filter out some of the less than ideal ones. I have recently acquired a 2005 Subaru Outback XT Ltd. This vehicle has esen...

Re: any headunit on the market support lossless formats?
I think in that case then that the iPod is handling lossless decoding duties and then just sending the stream to the headunit via the interface. I was hoping to just put lossless files on a thumb drive and plugging it in to the headunit and have it decode/play those lossless files...unfortunately I ...

Finally installed it...
Although I've had it since the end of July I've just finally had enough time to get around to installing it. Right now just running off the headunit's power while I work out other details of the system. I'm pleasantly surprised by the capability of the headunit's power...more than I thought it would...

PartsExpress products, good/bad?
Just wondering people's experiences with the offerings from PartsExpress?
I see Vifa, Peerless, Audax stuff on there and the super cheap price has me wondering if any of it could be good or if these are manufacturing defects/seconds that are being off-loaded?

How much time, patience, and practice does it take to de-solder things and have a clean, unburnt looking board? What exactly do you use to suck up the solder? Solder sucker? Is that what they're called? What wattage iron do you use? I have an M50 board that needs parts added to it, but until I get ...

12Vdc on the output is a bad, bad thing. You have something causeing the output mosfets to leak. Either the tripath chip shit the bed, or it is simply a shorted fet. I have seen the 1200.1's with just shorted FETs, so all might not be lost. They will typically draw quite high current in this scenar...

Tymphany Sub?
How does the Tymphany subwoofer work? What's the premise behind them? I saw that PartsExpress has a sale on the LAT250. I'm unfamiliar with their design. What size enclosure do they require?

ok, an update and some more questions ideas...
I settled in on the Clarion DXZ785USB, I ordered it from millionbuy.com...their shipping is fast and the price was too good to pass on, so hopefully it'll be a good unit. I received it but haven't had a free moment to get the install done. In any event, here's a question/idea I have and wanted to bo...

Looking for newer headunit, some questions/ideas
I've recently switch vehicles, went from an '02 Toyota Tundra SR5 to an '02 Nissan Maxima SE (got rear-ended and the impact sent me into the vehicle ahead of me and the cost to repair was borderline so the insurance decided to total it out...anyhow, found a Maxima and decided to pick it up) It's bee...
It's hard to please everyone all of the time, at least they take the chances, if it's a hit, great, if not, they go back to the drawing board listening to feedback from the fans. Obviously they listened to the fans when St. Anger tanked. Both shows I happened to go to when St. Anger was in full swin...
