Thanks for the reply Bogart. I also like lots of power. I really just need a little power compared to my S-10. Just hate having to take the Suburban (with stock stereo) when we all need to go. I will put a nice stereo in it! My kids want to take 2 different cars when we go somewhere. LOL! I also lik...

Thanks again Eric. That will go a long way with my decision on which amps to use. In the Suburban they will be inside though. (under second row seats)

WOW! I did not think the ZX would be as good as the M series. I trust your judgment though! I will also stop buying the M series. LOL!

I have 3 ZX 500's, and 3 ZX 450's. I also have a ZX 950 but it does not look like it has ever been powered up so I would like to leave it in the closet. I have 2 each of the M series 25, 50, and 44's. Also have 3 Outlaws but like the 950 would like to save them. I will run a 3-way front stage and su...

I used the Knukonceptz power wire in my truck and love it. Glad to hear it is similar/same as PG as I am a new PG owner, I will have to check it out.

Which amp?

I have to do a new install for one of my cars (Suburban) and was wondering what to do. I could do either M series amps or ZX series. Which one? I have said it before but to make sure you know I have never used the Phoenix Gold amps and don't know. I have always admired them but could not afford them...

2 way passive is definitely easier. No doubt. 3 way active takes more thought/planning. Ask yourself what do you want to achieve and go with that. EQ/time alignment should be the last steps in tuning. If you install and x-over correctly, not much of either is needed. You are limited on x-over adjust...

Sounds good but let that "midbass" get down a little lower. Mine are crossed over (bandpass) from 63hz to 125hz and it is great. The lower you can go the better it should be. 80hz is not bad but go a little lower in tuning and see how you like it.

If I had my way, I would go 3-way. I always do. Now those are fine EQ's IMO. But you need to get the crossovers figured out first. In order to do that you have to decide if you want 2 or 3 way. The 2 amps look great. But for 3 way you will need another 2 channels.

Do you have a link to their product.
Go to criticalmassaudio.com. If you go to the gallery on the left side of the page. The S-10 on the bottom is mine. These are under construction pics but I was almost done

Now I want you to remember that this is opinion and you should audition when you can. But the above mentioned comp sets listed are all great IMO. What makes a great sounding stereo is install and tuning. What I mean is you can make a "decent" set of comps sound damn good with a great insta...

Active will require a dedicated channel for each driver. You will need an electronic x-over or 2. Passive is going to be a x-over after the amp. 2 chan. amp and a three way x-over for 3 way front So if I used a 2 way setup and one amp on the front channel and woffers and another amp on the rear cha...

The difference will come in with tuning flexibility. Every car, install, etc. is different. Passive has little to no tuning flexibility (x-over wise) active gives you the ability to "tune" a lot more problems out. I have found that if you cross your mid and tweet over at the same freq., yo...
