Xenon and gains... Amp swap last night
Since it is spring... Time to swap amps in the old 911 that never gets driven (boo). Pulled out an old crappy Alpine and put a new (NOS?) Xenon X100.2 in its place. Ahh much better. Easy swap no problem there. I know they are semi hated for the power limiting, but this amp is only going to push a se...

Re: CTS-V amps finally decided!
X100.2 and X600.1 are here!
I plugging them in last night and they both work just fine.
Interestingly enough the X600.1 is marked USA on the bottom and the X100.2 Korea... Maybe some Xenons were made in USA???

I agree! At this point, I have my toys and she has hers. She pays for her crap so it goes unnoticed. Of course when I buy my car "stuff" (aka my crap) she bugs me about it. So it is always a mild loss on my end in the complaining category. LOL

With my wife it is the damn purses! I don't even ask anymore...
Dude If I could fit the x200.4 and x1200 I would have been all over it! The X200.4 was my fav installed amp ever! Just brutal power that kept coming for days!

Re: CTS-V amps finally decided!
FWIW As I was ranting to the wife about all this... Wife: Don't you already have a bunch of amps downstairs? Me: Yes. Wife: Why don't you install those? Me: No, they just don't match up. Wife: Then sell some of your amps and get what you want. Me: No. Maybe a few, but not the special ones. (meaning ...

CTS-V amps finally decided!
Well I finally committed to a set of amps for the '05 CTS-V... I have been dragging ass on this for about a year but nothing felt right. I have purchased and sold three diff sets of amps before coming full circle back to the Xenons. PPI Phantoms 900.4 and 600.2... Purchased and sold. Great little am...

Re: Mount MS275 upside down? + CT matching MS monoblocks!!!
Excellent! Thanks guys!
... The other option would be to go Xenon with the built in fans. But the MS needs to play, it has been in storage much too long. And they sound excellent as well
And yes, def needs caps before install.
I'll post up pics once I get rolling on this install.

Mount MS275 upside down? + CT matching MS monoblocks!!!
Idiot question, but I am a bit stuck on a deck build. Plenty of airspace and will not run hard. Just pushing a component set and that is all. Will it die? Run hot? IDK. I want to pair this MS275 with a Audio Technix 400.1 (CT Sounds 500.1D)... Tell me they do not go togehter like waffles and cocaine...

Re: question about trading xs6600 for ed 15?
I really liked my ED oV series sub a few years ago... But I think the XS6600 is worth much more than a normal ED sub. IMO the XS6600 is a great 3 way front stage amp!

Re: Ported vs Sealed, lets open this can of worms. lol
WOW, this thread went from slow start to crazy! I switch my gear... Although not an apples to apples comparison... Old: Brahma 15" in a 3 cu ft ported box. New: Ascendant Audio Avalanche 2- 15" in a sealed box at a Q of .74 about 4.5 cu ft with a little polyfil added and birch plywood box....

Re: Ported vs Sealed, lets open this can of worms. lol
... Since we are trying to determine the ultimate SQ...L system, let me introduce the topic of the Passive Radiator box. Apparently the PR box can achieve the same bump in low end that the ported can while retaining the SQ of the sealed box due to the lack of port "chuff" and dampening of ...

Re: Ported vs Sealed, lets open this can of worms. lol
... Should be an interesting discussion :) I have pondered the same myself, and still do ponder this every time I make a box for myself or friends. I agree 100% with Audiophyle in theory with the WinISD results and is what I usually go by. The ported box will give a much flatter response curve over a...

Re: I got more clear! Installed the Xenon 200.4!
Just to clarify, as for setup, I am using each of the 4 channels to drive a set of 6.5" component sets. Granted the rears are turned down to almost nothing unless I have passengers in the middle or rear rows (Suburban).
... I should probably take some pictures!

I got more clear! Installed the Xenon 200.4!
As friend of mine used to say to his wife when his very high end home stereo was obscenely loud... "It's not loud. It's more clear." Last night I installed a clean used Xenon 200.4 that I purchased from a phellow phorum member here and removed the ZX450. The ZX450 was a great amp, but of c...

Yes, to the 0 gauge wire. And I would add that you desperately needs some sound deadening. All that exposed sheet metal makes me think of rattles :) Trust me, sound deadening helps tremendously! Also I would bi-amp off the MB Quart crossover if it were me. This gives PLENTY of power to the 3-way sys...

Re: Where have all the nice head units gone?
I would add that the now old Kenwood X-995 and/or new X-996 would be a great option! Time alignment 3 sets of high output RCAs internal amp bypass! Features galore!!! I especially love the crossover capabilities! The bad is that the display gets completely washed out in sunlight glare. The only alte...

Don't ever do that. POS is POS and NEG is NEG. Never shall the two meet.
There are manuals available in PDF from the knowledge base link. Should help on the basics of installation and proper fusing.

I say get dirty with it! It is a proto after all. I am totally with Mike on this. Free air beating. Sealed beating. Ported beating. Wall socket beating... Time count :) Maybe use the "Bass Love" song that most people on Realm Of Excursion use/used. Should provide a good relative comparison...

So many of the lines are just incredible.
It is hard to chose, but for old school any of the the M, MS, or ZX will be great.
... Meh, anything PG with triple darlington design really.

In no particular order: IDQ v2 or v3, RSd or RSdC, Alpine Type R, Elemental Designs 10oV (surprisingly good sub that gets no credit)
