What exactly is that front battery under the bumper relocation bracket kit thingy? Is that a standard thing someone made, or custom? I love the idea, even if the weight distribution isn't so good.

Re: Phoenix Gold DSP8.8 finally a reality?
Is it just me, or does it seem like no one builds a be all end all, audiocontrol "kitchen sink" install DSP? Between small class D amps with high speed fets and mondo-power sub amps that aren't the size of a surfboard anymore, I keep thinking the next holy grail isn't just another small ad...

Re: Does anyone have the MS powerbank?
Use ultracaps.... Could potentially hit hundreds of farads. Other option is to make a rail voltage version.... That'd let you avoid voltage drop on the rails for the first hit/serious transient. I always thought a rail voltage power grid would be a great idea, but you could only make it compatible w...

Re: Message out to all PG employees...
Very few boards are good(edit: GOLD) plated. The pins on most ram and pcie cards, the pins on CPUs or sockets, and a few other things, like of of the RF pins in a cellphone, all gold plated. Most of the plated stuff is plated only about 0.05 microns to 2 microns thick. A human hair is like 170 micro...

Re: Message out to all PG employees...
Apparently autocorrect doesn't like me typing rcas. That or I typod it horribly. But now that the question has been brought up, let's talk about genealogy of the zen9. Is it another evolution of MS/M/zx/Ti? Triple darlington configuration? Did Mantz design it? What about the class D sub channel... I...

Also, any pics of power inputs, race, and front panel?
What's the physical size?
Know anyone looking for a kidney?

Re: Slow and mildly perturbed..
Figured once the amp rack, even the temporary prototype is in, running speaker wires is going to be about five times as knuckle busting, might as well run them first! Getting wire into the doors cleanly was always an issue, so I pulled the fenders, found my hole placements, and drilled a couple pilo...

Re: Tantrum 1200.1 Question
Be careful careful!!!! Tantrum 1200.1 has tripath chip that isn't replaceable anymore without hoping to find a spare from some elder repair God.... Seriously. If it was me, I'd set gains with 8 ohm load. High enough to not cause much current draw yet still in the realm of a real load after impedance...

Re: Slow and mildly perturbed..
Another thing I was thinking about was possibly putting fans on the two trunk vents, one intake, one exhaust, just to move some fresh air through the trunk and prevent a small amp hotbox from just heating up the whole trunk and turning it into a bigger hotbox. Sometimes, power density is a bitch. LO...

Re: Slow and mildly perturbed..
Would it be better if I could force feed say, 20-50cfm in from the left and pull 20-50cfm out from the right? After looking at it some more, I'm not sure how much air I can force into the air gap behind all the amps from below, there just won't be much of a gap between bottom amp and trunk floor due...

Did you solve overheating problems with audisons in similar install?
Any ideas how much airflow I may need?
I don't suppose one of the diagnostic ports will give an indicator on temperatures other than good/screwed?

Re: Slow and mildly perturbed..
Current spacing leaves 1.5" air gap. After shelving and thickness of shelving, and a bit of vibration padding, likely about 1.25-1.375" air gap. I'm hoping to force feed air from under the amp rack, up behind the amps, and then exhaust out each side of the rack. Shelves will have a front l...

Starting to redo trunk install on my del sol. Major changes in the trunk. Figured I'd do a bit of a build log and maybe some regulars here might have some insight when I run into trouble. Just doing a rough fitment for the amp rack, to see how it all fits. Shipping corner posts work well. :) http://...

Re: running 4 batteries and a POWERGRID???
You are also far more likely to kill amps with the extra batteries. Sitting in the low 11's isn't exactly gentle on the power supply... Now, if you had a dc-dc regulated output converter that put out 14v, based on your 10-11v input... That'd work great... Until it couldn't keep up and died or suffer...

Other option is to figure what you can lose, and use that position for another alternator possibly. Can you live without AC? That might be a good spot. Can you live without power steering? Another possible spot... An additional alternative may be to swap to an electric power steering pump to gain sp...

Re: Think we'll see anything new at CES in a couple of weeks
Good eyes ttocs! I think my brain comprehension went out of the window at staggered 2/4/2 8 channel plus beefy sub channel. Wonder how much power it really makes, and how much power supply is available, and what that structure is. One supply for all 8 with three different output voltage winding sets...

too bad it's an LE...I'd freaking LOOVE a pair of them, and I've already got plenty of signal processing. BTW: they going to come with birth sheets? How many amps of current draw at rated non-loaded down levels playing music/pink noise?? Anyone need a kidney?
