Re: My Steg MSK Class A, MS 2125,275, M 50, ZPA .5 SQ test

It was a fun comparison. I've wanted to do it for a long time. Yes, The STEG is a newer amp and design. I just threw it in there for fun. But as for older amps and their components degrading over time, just the electrolytic caps start to dry up. In many cases no sound goes though them and if so, the...

My Steg MSK Class A, MS 2125,275, M 50, ZPA .5 SQ test

Hope you enjoy the read! Thought I would throw this up here. So many times I have read people who say there is no difference in sound quality from amp to amp, or very little difference. I was curious for decades and finally sat down and did a side by side SQ comparison. Here are my findings. These a...

Re: question on ms 2250

Thanks for the response. Just trying to figure out power. With 13.8V input, my Mac 500 has 54votlts at the rails and my MS2125 has 37Volts. Just wanted to see how the 10th anniversary MS2250 compares. My ZPA .5 has 63Volts at the rails. I just fixed a JL Audio MVR-1505, and it has 50 volts at the ra...

Re: Which is it MS-2125 or MAC-500?

Congratulations. You have a Mac 500! The rail caps need to be 63 volts. They will blow with 50v ones. My Mac 500 is #500042. And no, the Mac 500 came with Mac 500 end plates, not MS 2125 ones. Your amp is rated at 200 watts 4 ohm stereo. It should do around 700-800 watts at 4 ohms mono. From what I ...

Re: MS-2125 Help. Beyond Repair????

Just looking at old posts. In the picture on the burnt side. The SPF 302a and SPF 302 diodes both have the same + symbol on the front. One should be + and the other should be -... kind of weird??? Was this amp repaired before?

Info required on where to buy speaker parts for repair

Hey, does anyone know where to buy parts for a midrange speaker? I have an older pair of Focal 6W2 Utopia's and I need to replace the diaphram/spider on them. They are sagging. I just need the glue and spiders. I have checked out sites and it is hard to find a place that sells the spiders... Except ...

Re: Subwoofer box size have any noticeable effect on cabin g

The 12" sub moves more air. It will be louder compared to a 10" period. The box and port plays a big role in resonant freq. A bigger box and port allows the deeper bass to come through from the back of the sub. You restrict the port area, you restrict the sound coming out. A smaller box wi...

Re: First Half decent install... need help lol

There are a million options. You can get another m50 for a sub or two, or get an m44 and run active, then run your sub off the m50 you have, or get an m100 for sub duty, or use the m100 for components and m50 for subs (sounds backwards but you can never give components too much clean power). Do you...

Re: ZX450 Green light -> No output

Since there is a signal and the voltage to the amp is good, then it is a cold solder joint on the circuit board. You will have to pull the amp apart and start touching up key joints with a solder gun. Touch up all transistor solder joints that get hot and main power bars that supply power to the tra...

Re: ZX450 Green light -> No output

The amp has a protection circuit in it if your voltage is wrong. The yellow LED light (overload) will come on. Is this amp in a car or are you just powering up the amp with a battery charger? The "input signal" I was talking about is the sound signal going into the amp... If there is no so...

Re: ZX450 Green light -> No output

Check to see if you have a sound signal going into the amp...

If you have a signal, then you have a cold solder joint somewhere on the board. You will have to go though your board with a solder iron and touch up all major spots. Even resolder the input (RCA) jack. Might be loose on the board...

Re: Does anyone have a parts list and location for MS 2250?

I believe from my observations, the MS 2125 can be made into a MAC 500 quite easily. Same size toroid iron core too. Just a few more windings than the MS 2125 and MPS 2500. I wish I had a picture of a MS 2250 to do a side by side comparison with my MAC 500. As for the added circuit mentioned above, ...

Does anyone have a parts list and location for MS 2250?

Just curious if anyone has a parts list and it's locations for an MS 2250. I know it's a lot of work and money, but, I would love to convert my MS 2125 to a Ms 2250. I know about the different toroid... I would also like to see how different my Mac 500 is from a MS 2250...

Just curious. Thanks!

Re: Old school car audio - RIP

I've been building systems for decades now. My true enjoyment were in the mid to late 90's. Yes, products were a fortune to buy. Made in the USA. Technology had finally come out where it was good. But, guess what, we all had to work hard to purchase something that meant the world to us... and to the...
