Re: Help with gain setting on RSDC

Help with gain setting on RSDC
I was reading about setting gains with the DMM and it workes well with the RSD comps, but I think I am not doing it right with the subs. I have a RSDC 12 2 bridged onto a XS 2500 amp. The Coils were wired in Series wich makes it a 4ohms speaker I believe. Then I plug it into the formula. XS 2500 is ...

Re: Crossover questions
IMO the best sollution for a two way system is setting the sub lowpass high, at 125, and the frontspeakers at 125hz, with the disadvantage that uou can slightly hear where the higher bass notes are coming from. If you realy want all frequencys covered, get some kicksubs. In the end it's what you li...

Re: Crossover questions
On a two way system most folks set the line in the ballpark of 80hz. The reason is much over that and you start to hear where the bass is coming from rather than maintaining the illusion that all of the sound is coming from your mids. You actually can set the subs at 60hz and set your mids at 150hz...

Crossover questions
Hi Guys, Been awhile, loooooong story. The short story, I built the engine for my Porsche less than 1000k miles and I blew it up. :? Now I got help and had it built again. This is the 4th engine since I bought the car. Im starting to think I drive it pretty hard lol. Now my questions. The alpine hea...

Re: 3-way componet set for the XS4600
How did you do that diagram of your setup? Paintbrush (microsoft) old skool 8) lol I think I am understanding what you guys are saying. If I am passing a full range signal to the component set, I will get distortion very quickly when turning up the gains. If I set the (hi-pass) on the xs4600 or usi...

Re: 3-way componet set for the XS4600
Could also be my tuning ability. Head unit puts out 4v (spec) next in the chain is the EQ25 wich has an input, adjusted so the lights flash one time sec with the peaks in the music, I actually backed it off a hair from that, so neither one blink. (just a hair) now the output on the EQ25 are adjusted...

Re: 3-way componet set for the XS4600
To clarify: Subs have there own amps 1 rsd 6.5 componet set is running on 1 xs4600. left speaker bridged, right speaker bridged. The alpine head puts out a clean signal to the eq and the eq is adjusted to output the full voltage required for the xs amps recomended input. at 7/8 volume the speakers a...

3-way componet set for the XS4600
I am starting to enjoy my stereo again, I am not sure I have the balance, or can obtain the correct balance with 2 12's bumpin and a single RSD65cs component set. I was thinking of adding 2 more midrange speakers in the doors, or just getting a 3-way set that will possibly fill in the inbetween. Wha...

xs 2500 Xover
I just realized that my alpine Headunit is set with its own subwoofer channel, crossover point, filtre, and gain control, but I still have the button pushed in on the amp for the lowpass factory crossover. Is that overkill, or does it not really effect sound quality? if the signal is already clean a...

Re: Car has been down for almost 3 months
I am still fine tuning the engine, and have not even turned the stero on yet, I am way too scared I am gonna blow this engine. I need to get the bugs worked out. Little bit of hesitation, a lot of jerky action, and a lot of money invested. I am pretty sure its down to the idle adjustment (i need to ...

Car has been down for almost 3 months
I have not listend to my system in 3 months :( The 1.8 motor that I put in temporarily dropped a valve seat about 3 months ago. I had the option of dumping money into a motor that I purchased for less than 400 bucks. Or, finishing my original 2.0 motor. It was a no brainer. I have been collecting pa...

My Car is running again
Figured I would post some pics of my hard work. Its a VW 1.8 liter type 4 motor with bone stock L-jetronic fuel injection. I pulled the 2.0 motor out so I can build it bigger with a larger torque range. The engine you see is my temporary motor, my first attempt. It runs pretty damn well considering ...
