Re: Opinion on Sub location
I think I'll put the sub behind the drivers seat. Two reasons...... One, less likely to put stuff over top the grill above the sub and block output and two, the battery is on the passengers side so it would be a straight run of cable to the back.

Re: Opinion on Sub location
Thanks for the input. Not worried about losing seat notches. Being as it's the old sub box that was in it before. Basically, I'm going to cut the top off of one side or the other, put a new side on to re-enclose for the single sub and place the two amps (mid/tweet & sub) inside. I'm thinking tha...

Opinion on Sub location
I know....It's been awhile since I posted last. But right now, I'm putting my old Nissan Truck back on the road and am switching up my setup from a pair of 10" subs down to a single 10". I'll re-purpose the old box I had the pair in and simplify the amp install by mounting them in what use...

Normally, by the time you can hear it, it is actually clipping rather severely.trickyricky wrote:Especially if your ears don't hear any clipping going on then why would you worry.

Re: Wire Gauge Question
...... the concern is how hot the wire might get if you have too big of a fuse on it(needed to power the amps if they are big). Then that would be a wire gauge issue and not a fuse issue, wouldn't it? Not sure what you mean by fuse size means nothing but recommended fuse size does. I mean I will ag...

Re: Wire Gauge Question
Well..... fuse size means next to nothing. RECOMMENDED fuse size means slightly more. -------------------- Ultimately, you're right. Watts mean nothing and it comes down to amp draw and distance. The calc, from http://www.bcae1.com/ depends on wattage, amp efficiency and distance to arrive at a conc...

Wire Gauge Question
Just a quick question...... Powering 2 amps, one is 2x75 and the other is 4x40 (310 watts total and both are low efficiency old school amps) with a 10ft. run, what gauge power wire would you use? I have been using 4ga but that is probably overkill. Do you think I can use 8ga without problems? The ca...

Re: Local PG Dealer Close Out -- 50% Off
I'm not 100% but. I think it would fit into a USPS Medium Flat Rate box and that would price it at $12.35 shipping.

Yes. But I found it works better as a front processor. Increases the height and width of the front stage.

FWIW.....Perry Babin over on the DIYAudio message board helped me with an old series VII Hifonics Pluto. He seems to really know those old ZED Audio designs. You may want to ask over there in the "Car Audio" section as well. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/index.php?s= Good info on his webs...

Re: Different ohm comp set
What ttocs said. DO NOT use a pre made xover intended for 4ohm on a 2ohm speaker. A "safe" generic xover point between mids and tweets would be 4000hz. Without having more info about the speakers in question, one really can't offer any more info.

Re: Different ohm comp set
You may want to try one of these passive calcs to see what components you need. Keeping it simple, just use the nominal impedance for each driver. Just scroll down the page a bit and you'll see them.

Re: Virtually stole this amp
Double checked the pin spacing. You're right TrickyRicky. The small ones are 1000uF 16v 20mm x 10mm case with 5mm pin spacing. The larger caps are 1000uF 50v 25mm x 16mm case with 7.5mm spacing.

Re: Virtually stole this amp
BurrBrown, where are those going? If you want to use one on this amp then just switch out U101 as the rest of the op amps are used for the crossover filtering. As mentioned am sure it can handle a 2ohm bridge load...just keep it cool enough with two fans. I have a NAD 2100 home amp that got hit by ...
