someone said that a speaker with higher impedance requires less power to reach the same amplitude. Is this true?

No, but the thing is, with music, you get a lot of bass notes. Dimming at the start of every bass note get annoying... Putting even a .5 farad cap in there might do the trick. That is the only time an alternator will not fix the problem. I put in a digital cap for aesthetics (girls love large cylin...

Most batteries are 12.6V or close too it. The output of the alternator is actually instant, the regulator does not "sense" anything, it is a very simple circuit. What takes time is for the current to make its way to the amplifiers in the trunk, through the cable which has resistance. &quo...

I thought the battery wants to stay at 13.8 V not 12. Also isn't the battery only used in the system when the overall voltage of the system goes below the battery's voltage? That's why adding another battery is useless because it just becomes another load on to the alternator to charge. Also another...

RSD 12" Competition Sub BLOWN

Hi, guys, I bought a 12" dual 4 ohm RSDc Subwoofer 2 months ago, and I ran it with a 1200.1 about 3/4 sensitivity (4 v preouts) (no bass boost), in a sealed box about 1.25 cubic feet? Anyways, it played nicely (no distortion) for a while, but then it started to make a noise like there was a wir...

Yah lol.... Funny thing is with PG, EVERY install item goes frigin rare -- It took me ages to track down the cap... I think those zeropoint distroblocks had the most features, and loooked the greatest, even though they use the old school fuses. I'd change my tantrum ground block with the new RSD gro...

I think most stock speakers produced a lot of mid bass at low volumes, but absolutely crackled snapped popped at higher volume settings.

Also, you need to tune your amp,

I think the ZX/ZXti runs full power with only 13.8V while the TI's require 14.4V to run at full power.... Most of the car's I've sen always have lower performing alternators that only reach 14.1V MAX Go with ZX -- but if you rather have the titanium finish, the ZXti line was the best because it's a ...

You know, something similar happend to my car -- howeveri t was the remote wire output on the deck that stopped working ... always put a lil wire from the positive input to the remote input to see if your amp is still good.

RMD Mounting Location

Hi, I have an RMD (remote monitor display). When I ordered it I thought it would be really slim, and you can mount it on a surface (like for say a sub box). When I got it, it seems like its really thick and the electronics are not sealed in. I don't want to mount it up in front I want to mount it in...

rsd takes less current to run same amount of power because it's a class D amp. the ti is A/B. Plus why not match your gear? +++ RSD is less money lol.

don't mean to bring up an old topic but I was reading up on the ZX, ZXti line and found that both the ZXti and ZX amp's power are rated at 13.8V ie. the zx450 makes: 4 ohm stereo @ 12/13.8 VDC 18/75 WRMS x 4 while the comparable TI line 500.4 does: 4 ohm stereo @ 14.4 Vdc 75 WRMS x 4 So that would m...

[quote="dedlyjedly" I would just add to mrblob's comments that while adding a capacitor isn't the best approach as your only upgrade to the electrical system, that certainly doesn't mean that a capacitor is "useless." They do have a role to fill when added to an otherwise capable...

What happend to the PG RSD LED Display Caps?

About a year ago I was looking for the newest style 1 farad caps that PG made, and I found a few sellers that offered the one with the LED display. I didn't have enough money for one before so I left it. So now that I've saved a bit, why is it no one is selling one? It's similar to this: http://www....

if you have the space its always better to put a second battery Ok, since I can speak out of a long winded journey of discovery and experience, you probably DO NOT need a second battery. The only reason you may need a second battery is if you would like to listen to music without the car started, o...

I'd like to second 1moreamp's theory. I ran a perfectly fine x100.4 in a setup where 2 xenon's at the front and 2 xenon subs at the back ... TEMPORARILY because my x1200.1 BLEW (I got the early manufactured models). I started noticing alot of static and distortion at times comming through my front x...
