Re: What are my amps worth???

Better pics from when I first purchased them. They didn't have the new caps in them yet but they are better pics.

Re: What are my amps worth???

Well, these are crappy cell phone pics. I will pull them this week for better pics. They look just like all the other 2125's out there. Just super clean. http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn376/lanceandjami/18e30103.jpg http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn376/lanceandjami/b44c23d9.jpg http://i321....

What are my amps worth???

Hey guys, Been kicking around the idea of redoing my system and wanted to know what you thought my PG MS series amps were worth. The are amazingly clean as I purchased them from someone who had them BNIB. Literally in storage for all those years. I have only used them for about a year and it's in my...

Re: Why does everyone hate the Ipad or Ipod?

Certainly there are more everyday, that is where the market is going. Most of these decks are not considered the high end SQ decks of the past. In fact, there is another thread here wondering where all the high end SQ decks have gone. It's a pretty common question now days. The 994 seems like a soli...

Re: Why does everyone hate the Ipad or Ipod?

Alright, lets talk a little about lossless encoding here and set things straight. Lossless = exactly the same as the original... there is absolutely no difference between 16bit, 44.1khz lossless audio and CD audio when the music is decoded on the same source,.. so as long as the file is ripped from...

Re: Where have all the nice head units gone?

The new pioneer 80 looks solid. I am surprised that it doesn't all for lossless though. That is disappointing.

Re: Why does everyone hate the Ipad or Ipod?

I have only used mp3's on my phone/mp3 player with headphones. It is nice to be able to have a large library to listen too on there since I have no other option to get music from(sirius, cd, regular radio). Now carrying extra music along with my phone would be hard but I am not sure why people are ...

Re: Why does everyone hate the Ipad or Ipod?

Just FYI, there are a number of reasonably priced headunits that bypass the iPod's DAC's and use the headunits (my Kenwood X994 does this). I use my iPod almost exclusively when listening to music in my vehicle(s). Why? Because keeping many CD's in my vehicle sucks, lossless files are so close to C...

Re: Line driver help needed

lol, no worries. it's actually better that it's a four channel than a two. I just have to figure out if I need a six or if the four will do the trick. Any input on the tweet amp benefiting from a line driver? I just don't know if it will make more of an impact because it's the highs and often noise ...

Re: Line driver help needed

Joerg, Thanks for the correction, I was thinking 2 channel. O.K. Let me think about the system then. The tweets, honestly don't need a boost, the 275 is going to run them effortlessly. The sub will have it's hands full with the 2125 mono as well though I have read with the sub line boosted, it does ...

Re: Line driver help needed

Thanks ttocs, I am currently running a three amp system, though honestly the MAC is the only amp that needs the line driver, I have been reading up on them and am tempted to drive all three signals. The cost difference between a 44 and 66 might be negligible, if I cant find a 66 I will hit you up on...

Re: Why does everyone hate the Ipad or Ipod?

Lossless is about half the compression of a CD. It's obviously significantly better than seriously compressed audio but it's still not cd quality. The problem with most of the IPODs and IPADs are they use their DAC's. So if you have a nice head unit with 24 bit burr browns or something similar, you ...

Line driver help needed

I have a Mac 500. Alec told me the preamp was bypassed to lower total harmonic distortion. Consequently my 4 V input signal is too low. I don't have enough line voltage to driving amp. Can someone make a suggestion on a line old driver that would be adequate? Looking for something simple and effect...

Re: Where have all the nice head units gone?

Yeah, unfortunately they want a grand for the p99. I went old school (9887), well, that is relative. It's not old school, old school but you know what I mean. The Pioneer 880 is solid as is the CD7200. Probably the CD7200 is one of the best out there. Strong outs, copper chassis, etc. Problem is the...

Re: Little help setting up my system

The 2125 clips now at higher volumes but there is no audible distortion. The lights are just barely blinking. The RK6's are really power hungry. 200W continuous is recommended, they will handle 250 continuous with 500 peak. But they are amazing with power. The doors are heavily deadened. They have t...

Re: Little help setting up my system

Virtue, K, thanks. I am with you. Just to confirm, because my fronts and subs are 4 ohm, when running the 2125 in stereo into a 4 ohm load, the amp sees and outputs a 4 ohm load. When it's bridged into a single 4 ohm sub, it's still outputting a 4 ohm load (obviously with more power). So whether run...

Re: Little help setting up my system

The MX12 Alumipro is sealed in a very strong enclosure to manufacturers specs. I hit's hard and is very tight. It's a 4 ohm sub so I could run either amp mono into it. I just run a single 12. I am currently running the 275 mono into it and a 2125 into the mids and highs passive but want to get away ...

Re: Little help setting up my system

Just read an email from Alek. He said that the Mac would overheat bridged which makes sense because it's in a 2125 case without the fan shroud that the 2250 has so I guess that makes the decision for me. Mac500 to the mids, 2125 mono to the sub and the 275 to the tweets active. Edit. I re-read the e...

Re: Little help setting up my system

I need to stay active to tame the tweets and I already have the 275 so I am going it use it. I want to run full active. I get what your saying about the mac up front being a waste but I am wondering if it's a bit of a waste either way. Bridged at 800W that MX12 Alumipro is gonna pop if I am not care...

Re: Little help setting up my system

I was thinking the same thing, to run the 2125 to the sub. I ran the 275 bridged on the sub for a while Nd was surprised how well it ran it, the 2125 should really move it. The mx12 is pretty efficient and won't need the bridged power of the 2250. And the mods I am running should be able to handle t...

Little help setting up my system

Hey guys, Need some advice. I purchased a couple of 2125's a long time ago and have been working on an install recently. I had what I thought to be twin 2125's. I sent them both out to Alek for a refurbish and come to find out one of them is a cheater amp. This is news to me. One of the 2125's is ac...
