Re: A newbie (2phoenixphorums) w/ a bad clone....
Also , on the first page i was saying that the previous owner over tightened one of the 2 nuts on the bottom of the speaker, causing one of the "swerlly" things to mushroom out a bit at the bottom. From one to the other there is about a 1/16" differance, and because of the taper i can...

Re: A newbie (2phoenixphorums) w/ a bad clone....
How would you go about isolating the motor from the veins? The previous owner used silicone of some sort when putting it back together after servicing it and i now callon access the top of the stator. I dont know if that makes a differance or not in trying to isolate the motor.

Re: A newbie (2phoenixphorums) w/ a bad clone....
Here is a video of it in the enclosure, its a bit long, but at the end i move away from the enclosure and it is very apparent the sound that i am talking about. When i move away the clone is playing 31-34 hz. http://static.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid21.photobucket.com/albums/b290/snai...
Re: CYCLONE
after years in the industry I have never heard an ib system that sounded as good as a nice enclosure. Heard alot of them but they always left me wondering how those subs would sound in a box. I was interested with playing with it at one point in my own system and after asking a few people that knew...

Re: A newbie (2phoenixphorums) w/ a bad clone....
Sorry guys, i didnt get a chance to make a video, im in the middle of a project and it is consuming all of my free time. Ill do my best to get it up there tonight.
Re: CYCLONE
Food: i have to agree with you that not all speakers were designed to work in IB setups. But with that said, all subs can be used in a IB, they cannot handle near the power, or be at their most efficant because, yes they were not designed to be. There are many (10-20) people on some of the home thea...

Re: A newbie (2phoenixphorums) w/ a bad clone....
Sounds good, ill post it up tonight when i get a chance. I am having the idea that it is becuase of the magnet being cracked on two sides and a peice of the magnet, about the size of 2/3 of a candys corn (got to love the halloween name drop) missing. I was just surprized that with the magnet being i...

Re: A newbie (2phoenixphorums) w/ a bad clone....
I have listened to your video multiple times, there is a section of the video at 14that seconds in, that you can visually see the veins moving about a 1/4" one way movement, i have played a 35hz wave and at the 1/4"vein movement as seen in your video and i have an audible noise, that sound...
Re: CYCLONE
From what i have read about the cyclone, it will reproduce the most linear sound in a IB. i have also read on more than one occasion that it was specifically designed to be used im the exact manor in with the origanal poster whats to accomplish. Free air into the trunk. With any speaker, a IB enclos...
Re: CYCLONE
From my understanding of the clone, it was origanally designed as IB and also works best in an IB. This is so there is less back pressure being forced onto the veins and because of the gap between the plexi and the veins it is less likely that you will have cancelling waves in the listening side of ...

Re: A newbie (2phoenixphorums) w/ a bad clone....
I have owned 2 and I still have one left I am selling. That buzzing noise is what they do, They are not ment for full range or anything over 50hz with a minimal 18db recommended 24db slope. Both of mine make that sound and one was new out of box even after it was cleaned by a guy who has been rebui...

Re: A newbie (2phoenixphorums) w/ a bad clone....
Oh i guess i should have clarified my words from an earlier post. I know that this is not a "subwoofer" and i dont treat it as such. I have this paired up with a velodyne 12 w/a passive radiator on it. The velodyne gets down fiarly low for what it is. So my plans were to model each "s...

Re: A newbie (2phoenixphorums) w/ a bad clone....
Yeahhhhh....... after seeing his asking price.... and the tbought that im sure he has never serviced it and most likely has demonstrated it to his buddies, im betting that that magnet it toast too. Well that and the fact this is $1000!!!!!, for that kind of money i would buy 2 of the tc sounds 15&qu...

Re: A newbie (2phoenixphorums) w/ a bad clone....
the noise is more noticeable at lower volumes and higher frequencies, if i play a 20hz wave at low volume it has the same sound (its almost identical to what a voilcoil sounds like when it is touching the magnet. I dont want to play it too much like this tho. The odd thing is if i put power behind i...

Re: A newbie (2phoenixphorums) w/ a bad clone....
No its more define than that, this is similar to the sounds that it makes when the magnet is dirty, it doesnt sound like grinding, tho similar, you can just tell that they are binding or at the least have resistance to moving freely. how this info helps a bit ill try to take a video and put it up on...

Re: A newbie (2phoenixphorums) w/ a bad clone....
Well i believe that i have found the reason for the magnet looking the way that it does. Let me know if any of you have heard of this happening/ or is it possable. So i cleaned the magnet anyways and said the hell with it! and threw the cone back together. As i was putting everything back together i...

A newbie (2phoenixphorums) w/ a bad clone....
So... I bought a clone last night after looking and wanting one for a LONG time, something like 10+ years. So, anyways, the clone ive got looks to have cracked motor/magnet assembly. I will post pictures at the end. My biggest question is, where can i get another magnet from? As im sure it would be ...
