Re: Your thoughts an options on DD subs 3500 series in parti
I have only heard DD in an SPL environment so that is why I ask this question. That being said, I beleive that virtually any sub can sound good given the right enclosure. However, can the motor and suspension be fast enough to really articulate individual impacts. Also, can the response be smooth or...

Re: TFone sub?
Wow. Another SPL sub. Just what that world needs. At least it has a reconizable name on it if it is an Rockford. Unlike most of these SPL subs people are assembling in their basements and have no T/S specs. on. Then come online to say they are the greatest sub in the world.

Re: Q&A for me
That is just a 20amp 110volt plug. As long as you have 12 gauge wire to you electrical box then you can just change the wall outlet to a 20amp outlet and your at good to go.

Re: General amplifier question / food for thought
Eric. that is where i am going with this thread actaually.
Why is it that when the output power is kept consistant between all 4 amps they sound the same. Yet when you take each to just before their clipping limit they sound different?

General amplifier question / food for thought
Ok here is the senerio. 4 high end amplifiers. all rated at 100 x 2 wrms. Feeding the same set of compenent speakers and being fed by the same HU. As each amp was switched out the output voltage of each amp was set the same and the previous. I.e. if amp A read 20 volt unclipped on the output then am...

It is amazing what you forget in 8 years. I have not built a ported box since 2004 and forgot what numbers to use. I feel like a clown.

Re: Ported box question (stupid one actually)
Shawn that is what I was getting too yet manufacturer says a port length of 18.5" with 16sq in of port area. Well I think i found my problem. Correct me if i am wrong. Manufacturer give an F3 for tuning (which if I recall is not the tuning of the port but the freq at which it is 3db down. Well ...

Re: Ported box question (stupid one actually)
This makes sense but answer me this question. If a manufacture give me 1.6 cuft for a NET volume for a ported box and 16sq in of port and a port length of 18.5 inches to tune the box to 31Hz (all these number are from the manufacture mind you). should I be able to plug them numbers into WINISD and g...

Ported box question (stupid one actually)
When figuring port tuning frequency and length what box volume is used? Is it the NET volume or GROSS volume. WinISD appears to use a Gross Volume before any displacement but some other port calculators appear to use a net volume. Please can someone shed some light on this?

Re: Your thoughts on Treo Subs
I am looking for a sub to compete with the IDMAX. If they had and IDMAX 15 id run it as I just love the effortless output of a 15. Yet I still need a pretty small box and the TE seems to fit that bill. did you think the SSI or the TE sounded better?

I have to chime in on this one. I love all music (well accept maybe polka and bluegrass...well maybe Weird Al polka is alright). I listen to trance more than anything though. I find it very calming and relaxing music. It wasn't until I listend to "Leaving Planet Earth" by Talisman and Huds...

Re: Ported box size vs power handling
That makes sense. Assuming you have a 3 cu. box tuned to 32hz playing 40Hz. and a 4cu. box tuned to 32hz playing 40Hz would the larger box have any better power handling characteristics?

Ported box size vs power handling
Ok I just came across something on another forum that I am pretty sure it BS but I can't say as I have ever heard it before. Can a larger ported box handle more power than a smaller ported box? I say NO due to the fact that the less air to control the come movement. We know sealed enclosures can han...
