Re: Tuning Coax Mounted Components
Thanks for the info, I am definitely trying to get better at imaging and tuning. Fyi, I do not use rear speakers. I have left and right front components mounted coaxially, and a single 10 firing from the driver's side trunk corner toward the passenger side of the car. So that makes changing phase qu...

Re: Tuning Coax Mounted Components
Yes, I swapped the whole component. I don't think the tweeter is the problem, the mid is what I sense as the problem, but maybe I am missing something. And Yup, physics is awesome : ). I went with ID's recommendations for tweeters mounted on mid: The tweeters are set to 12db, high passed at 4000hz, ...

Re: Tuning Coax Mounted Components
Thanks for the feedback guys. The other day I tried swapping the phase of the full component on the passenger side, then put it back and changed the driver's side phase. It was a noticeable change each time but I didn't love the result. I adjusted the time correction of the passenger side after I pu...

Re: Tuning Coax Mounted Components
Yeah the attenuators in the both xovers set the same. I was in there a while ago to change the crossovers. Would it ever help to change the phase of the tweet only in a coax mounted component set? Then the mid and tweet would be out of phase. If it's coax, that's not likely going to change anything ...

Tuning Coax Mounted Components
Hey Everyone, Installed ID Components coaxially in stock door locations. Vocals sound a lot louder from the left front, I assume due to the better path to my ears. The right front is firing across the passenger footwell. I am using time correction and my built in 5 band PEQ can not adjust the left a...

Hearing Some Tweeter Distortion
Hey everyone, I believe this was happening to me before I mounted my components coaxially as well, but I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the distortion you can hear best between 0 and 2 seconds, as well as between 6 and 9 seconds, in the attached audio clip. Not sure if it's a crossover is...

Re: Ignition tapping trouble, could really use some help!
not sure why the ignition harness would scare you. just a bunch of wires and with a test light or volte meter it would take 3 mins to find one. It sounds like you tapped into a canbus wire. Thees are data wires that dont' carry voltage to turn things on. Thats prob exactly what we did. I'm not real...

Re: Ignition tapping trouble, could really use some help!
2014 F-150, he brought it to his shop yesterday and the guy had to tap into the ignition in the steering column, glad we stopped trying when we did because I really didn't want to go into the steering column.

Re: Ignition tapping trouble, could really use some help!
Hey guys, thanks for all the info, I didn't even make it back onto the forum before we just worked around the issue. We just ran the power to the remote wire and ran a wire up to the drivers seat so hed have sound for the long ride back. I told him to just make sure he disconnected the two ends if h...

Ignition tapping trouble, could really use some help!
Sup guys, trying to install a speaker/amp upgrade to my dad's truck and running out of time, he is traveling back to ga tomorrow. Everything is ready to go but the ignition wire we tapped into at the back of the stock headunit is not putting out enough voltage to turn on the amp we are using. It is ...

Line Out Converter Question
Hey Guys, Will be putting a simple system (hopefully) into my dad's truck next weekend. We will be using a line out converter because he is keeping his stock headunit. I see good reviews on a couple of NVX 4 channel converters, but one has a maximum input of 40 watts, and the other has a maximum inp...

Re: old style elite 12d setup
That's rough man, sorry to hear how this panned out. If you get another one or make this one happen, I have been impressed both times that I powered an elite with a mere 1200 watts. I have never had the structure in a car to dare run greater, or the money, haha, these things pound. Earlier this year...

compustar Haha, yup, love it. I have had that alarm transferred from my 09 Wrx to my 11 Wrx and finally to the 13 Sti. My alarm installer never wants me to trade in another car again, he hated working on that Compustar : ). I think I am going to dbl stick tape my new tweets to the kicks for a coupl...

Re: Have Any Installers on the Phorum Worked on Wrx/Sti A-Pi
Took a couple pics. There is a good bevel on the trim on the window edge, but it is fairly flat before. Third pic is the back side of the pillar trim, I think I have close to as much depth as that clip mount for the tweet, maybe a bit less. http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h419/Subirex09/2013%20S...

Thanks ttocs.
You have them mounted in oem kicks, or glassed custom kicks? Also, off axis or on axis?
Do you mess around with the polarities having them down in the kicks to raise the stage?

Re: Have Any Installers on the Phorum Worked on Wrx/Sti A-Pi
A lot of times they are mounting them off axis into the cabin, but in many cases it almost looks like they are just mouning them on axis and still building up of body filler behind a trim ring. It looks pretty, but if I can avoid the work, I would much rather drop them in. No one has responded on ot...

Have Any Installers on the Phorum Worked on Wrx/Sti A-Pillar
Sup guys, wondering if there was a reason why most Wrx/Sti owners mold the tweets into the a pillar versus hole saw, drop in, and secure from the back of the pillar? I have a 13 Sti and my ID xs tweets just aren't going to fit into the sail panels. I was able to mod the RSd tweets into the sail pane...

Re: Considering Throwing More Power at RsD Components
Exactly what vwdude said. I went from 75 watts per side to 150 watts per side and had to turn the levels down on my headunit so that it would blend with the sub again. I can't tell you there's an audible difference in sound quality, but I had extra amp channels not being used so I decided to do it....

Re: Considering Throwing More Power at RsD Components
Sweet thanks guys, yes I am looking to go a little louder, and I do realize I won't actually be pushing 300 watts to them at the levels I listen, but I want them to see more power than they are seeing now.

Considering Throwing More Power at Components
Hey guys, I am thinking about bridging my JL HD600/4 and running a bridged channel to each rsd mid/tweet. The amp does 150x4 or 300x2. I am only using 2 channels right now giving each side 150 watts max, but I rarely listen at amp output maximizing headunit volume. Is it risky to send more power to ...
