Re: Need set up advise
Hmm that's an interesting idea. What would I gain from that? The ZPAs are capable as each Channel has its own gain control. You eliminate channel "cross talk" during amplification. In theory your channel separation is infinite at the amplifiers' inputs because even if there is cross talk ...

Re: Simple BMW e36 coupe cabrio install
Nice work. Planning my E90 sedan install now, I'm loving how much of the work BMW has done for me already in this car!

Re: Need set up advise
I don't think you can go wrong either way. My only concern would be how you would be mounting option two without imaging losing focus from up high enough and in front unless those 3's play pretty low, not a huge deal to overcome though. Have you considered going dual mono with either option? ie one ...

Your best bet is to have the roof skin removed, reinforce it, then re-skin it.

Go down to Mike/gastroker. See how he had a sunroof, then he didn't? Re-skinned, it wasn't that bad either from what he told me.

Re: best android dock for car?
I was frustrated by this situation with my car. The problem with headphone jacks is that they are optimized to drive the lower impedance presented by headphones vs. the 5k-10k input impedance of a true line level input. I was using an ipod and an iphone, so at first I bought a fiio L11 Line Out Dock...
Re: OEM bliss
Anxiously awaiting this for my BMW. Specs are pretty impressive, and some installers who I regard pretty highly for knowing their BMW shit are all over this thing. 64 bit fixed point word size for the DSP is kinda mind blowing, the most advanced audio recording/engineering software I use on my macbo...

Re: Tuning Coax Mounted Components
So time alignment can only do so much, especially working with such a wide high pass band, as you found, then it will just wreak havoc and cause terrible combing. If I were you, I would probably spend minimal time on this right now if you can get it to sound acceptable knowing its temporary. Once yo...

So recently I sent this amp down from where I live in northern ca to sothern ca for vwdude to make repairs. In transit it was lost. (possibly stolen)    I'm sooooo bummed out! this was my nicest pg amp, actually my favorite amp period. I just wanted to have everyone on here awa...

Re: Tuning Coax Mounted Components
I thought we were talking about just swapping the tweeters polarity but it sounds like you swapped the whole component? That I would not recommend, putting one side completely out of phase will just add to canceling and make bad sound. me too, I just use "driver" generically. Probably wan...

Re: Tuning Coax Mounted Components
Yeah the attenuators in the both xovers set the same. I was in there a while ago to change the crossovers. Would it ever help to change the phase of the tweet only in a coax mounted component set? Then the mid and tweet would be out of phase. If it's coax, that's not likely going to change anything...

Re: TBA1 questions
I would also keep investigating this before you throw a new alternator at it, but a couple things to consider. Assuming you read 14.3 with the car idling and little to no load on the charging system, its still possible the alternator, or part of it, is faulty. Since you're chasing a noise issue, you...

Re: whats up everyone, back from the dead, need bmw install
Because the Logic 7 transmits audio from the head unit to the OEM amp via the MOST ring, you need a processor capable of decoding the L7 signal which is a proprietary digital signal specific to the HK systems. BUT FEAR NOT...any BMW Professional head or iDrive unit can be coded/programmed to functio...

Re: Think I have a phase issue...
Crossover summing is a huge pain sometimes. Without looking up specifics on all your gear, the first thing I would try is using one device to handle crossover duties for both high and low pass. Using 2 different crossover alignments will cause numerous response issues in your stop bands and will be ...

Re: Line driver help
I lowered the line driver gains for my front speakers to zero and the distortion dropped significantly and I no longer hear idle noise. My amp gains are still at zero, I just increased my ms8 volume a little. So my question, is the Line driver supposed to give a voltage boost even with zero gain? I...

one of my favorites is the dude (it has to be the same dude in all of them) that sells a lot of low-mid level Alpine head units on ebay, lists them buy it now for stupid prices, and on every single one has the label on the bottom ripped in the exact same spot...the spot where they all would say MADE...

Re: PG Amplifier Gain Testing Experiment
A quick flash (where talking about milliseconds here) every once in a while wouldn't hurt it. Now if its flashing or staying lite for long periods of time, then that's another story. If you watch most people working a sound board either at a live show or in the studio, the meters will always just b...

Re: Line driver help
The first thing that jumps out at me is the MS8's SNR listed at 90(db I assume, it just says "90") for the line level stage. I think the least expensive amp I have specs at >100db. The SLD44 specs at >110db for line level for comparison. That really shouldn't be causing distorted transient...

Re: can anyone help with the rane 12v conversion?
I don't like the idea of turning it from 12vdc to 110vac then knocked down to 18vac and after that rectify it to 18vdc....thats a lot of converting and stepping voltage..when I can simply tap into the 12vdc supply and step it up to 18vdc.. DC to DC converter. I think I found the solution...just hop...

I have no idea, but I do know Rane's customer service has always been pretty stellar for me and about every other person I know that's dealt with them. May be worth a shot giving them a call, you will actually end up talking to someone that has a clue. I think they like when people use their stuff f...

Just drove home at like 8am from the club trying to implode my eardrums with Songs In the Key Of Life so I'd say bridged @ 8 sounds just fine. Clearly not stressing the electrical like before either. Thanks dudes.

see what I mean I can't even say what I'm thinking sometimes. 2 channels of mono signal w/ 1 channel per coil, not stereo to each coil.

Re: Quick Load Q, Tantrum bridged @ 2
you dont need to change anything in your signal path. just wire the sub's coils in series inside the box and you will be set Your sub will sound much better too, if you run it at 8ohm bridged. Especially if its ported. No need to touch the signal cables, just put the subs coils in series and that w...

Agree with bfowler.... bridge the amp at 8ohms and you will be good to go, until you find a 2ohm mono stable amp. Yeah the problem is right now I have no extra money. Like I haven't even had enough to order caps and diode for that ms275 I got. I have 3 amps sitting here in my room and the 2 in the ...

you're running a 500.2 at 2ohms bridged with 8awg wire from distro to the amp? you are lucky it didnt melt then that amp isnt made for that load, let alonf without dedicated 4awg and a cap. you will cut your power in half, but you should run that sub with its coils in series for 8ohms until you get...

Quick Load Q, Tantrum bridged @ 2
OK right now I have 1 12" that is dual 4 ohm coils. I'm feeding a Tantrum 500.2 from my Clarion EQS746 Subwoofer outputs since it has a sub level control. Its lowpassed at 90 right now by the Clarion ouput (that's a whole different discussion, other amp has fixed high pass @ 80, its getting rep...
