Would anyone be willing to recap and checkup on my amps? I'm looking to have it done within 2weeks, 3 on the outside, to coincide with the rest of my build. The amps are currently in great shape with no obvious signs of problems - I just want to keep it that way!
Thanks,
Justin

Re: Calling all box experts - is mine worth keeping?
 I had a box made by the same guys who initially installed all my gear. They did not do a great job with wiring the amps, though neat and tidy it was far from optimal. This left me wondering about the box they made me. I have one JL 12W6v1 (3ohm DVC) being pushed by a PG zx500.2 @3ohms. Than...

Re: Calling all box experts - is mine worth keeping?
ok if im understanding correctly it has a single 2" hole that feeds into a slotted port that comes out the side? also have you tried plugging that 2" hole? I tried the best I could to illustrate with green where the top chambers dump into the bottom port chamber. It is a 2" slot, not...

Re: Calling all box experts - is mine worth keeping?
That was my initial thought but the holes seemed a bit too restricted for it to be pure support. I could be wrong but to me they would either be by design or a flaw in design. Maybe someone with more experience can come in to their effect.zztunnell wrote:Best I can figure is that chamber is really just a brace.

Re: Question about partially using passive xover
Right, but that would be a mono-bridge. I was asking for clarity on the stereo bridge. Thanks though.ttocs wrote:bridging the amp would mean you use the pos left and neg right of the front, and the same for the rears.

Re: Question about partially using passive xover
With the equipment you have at hand, I know I personally would run the ZX450 stereo bridged into the Quart passive network. Then run the ZX500 on the sub as you planned. This will get you 250W+ a channel to the 3-way, which will easily be able to drive the drivers with authority. I believe that is ...

Question about partially using passive xover
This isn't quite PG related, but you guys have proven to be very knowledgeable about everything car audio related.\ I'm thinking about replacing my HU with the Pioneer PRS-80, which has a 3way active xover network. I, unfortunately, have a 3way passive MBQuart stage and a sub, which makes it a 4way....

Re: A few questions about my best-bet configuration.
i have the same amps (black ones) like you and remember a simular setup with old boston pro speakers.... it is really simple.... if you just will use the zx450 for it, brigde front and rear and use them for left and right on the threewaysystem. if you want to integrate another zx350, use the crosso...

Re: A few questions about my best-bet configuration.
Yes you can run dissimilar loads on a 4-channel. They are designed for it. So long as the combined output of your amplifier does not exceed the total power rating of the amplifier, AND no channels exceed their output ratings, your amp will be just fine. If you ran just one of the 4 channels on your...

Re: A few questions about my best-bet configuration.
Bridging a ZX450 and keeping it stereo requires a pair of "Y" cables as you mentioned. Set the ZX450 crossover to 4-channel input, and for full range, or high pass. Run your right RCA to one of the "Y" cables and then feed that cable into both the left and right inputs for the f...

Question 1-TriMode the 450 and BiAmp the xover. Question 2- Bigger is always better.(wire) Question 3-I have never owned one. Thanks for the reply. Can you elaborate on trimode, please? I am already bi-amping the xover, so sounds like I might already be setup ideally? Sorry I am wrong either leave ...

Re: A few questions about my best-bet configuration.
I wish I had never mentioned 'rear fill.' My rear is filled with this subject. My main questions were how to best wire my current setup. I don't care where you'd put the speakers - i have limited options and am doing the only things available. Where i DO have options is how I wire and balance my com...

Re: A few questions about my best-bet configuration.
I'm finding it pretty awesome that the location of my rear stage is preventing anyone from helping me. I guess I should just burn everything and put a boombox up front! But seriously: this is my REAR stage. Of COURSE it's in the back. I am not trying to make my car sound like it has a front stage -...

Re: A few questions about my best-bet configuration.
Here is one item of advice I would like to add.... Either turn your seat in your car around so you point to the back of it, or move ALL of those speakers up to the front were they belong. How many people go to a concert and look away from the band, or how many people place all their home stereo equ...

A few questions about my best-bet configuration.
I'm looking at updating my setup, mainly trying to get it 'the best it can be' while incorporating a PG EQ215ix I just picked up from this forum. I'll start off with my current setup, which was put together out of my old stock and a not-perfect install (I just HAD to get it done): Sony HeadUnit, not...
