Which capacitors to use for MS / MPS amplifiers

I want to keep my PG collection in good condition. To do this I want to change not only the large PSU hoods but also the smaller ones. Most of the amps I have are the MPS / MS series. I have seen that for small caps you can use: 1) Nichicon UHE1C562MHD6 or 2) Panasonic EEU-FC1C562 (5600uf; 16V; -40 ...

Re: MS Capacitor

Cosmetic reasons. If you use 2,200uF caps, they are less than half the height of the original capacitors, so they don't look very good in the amplifier (when the amplifier is to be put on display). I understand but I ask for greater capacitance of the capacitor 5600 uF 2200 uF vs not affect anythin...

MS Capacitor

Question.
I saw that all the capacitors on the small amplifiers phoenix gold ms range are from 2,200 uF 16V 105C, I saw that you use when you need to replace capacitors, 5600 uF 16V 105C.
Ask you all how come you do not meet the factory and instead using condensers with a capacity greater uF?

Re: MS Capacitor Replacement

JOERG; you searched for the blue caps a while back, did you find a source for them? The ones I always used are black, you will loose the "original look" but gain reliability. In fact, losing the original look me a little annoyance that's true. I saw that Philips was producing capac...

Re: MS Capacitor Replacement

Question:
I saw the Nichicon capacitors but they are all blacks, I do not mind the small ones are fine, but wanting to find the biggest blue capacitors where can I see?
Thank you for your invaluable help

Re: MS Capacitor Replacement

The lifespan of a chemical product like a capacitor is limited. That is why I choose to also replace the railcaps [big ones] when recapping; taking a MS amp apart is not something you want to do more often than needed and if you love that amp, you want to service it thoroughly. Replacing the railca...

Re:

I don't use paste with sil-pads. The pads are designed to make full contact on their own with sufficient pressure. Besides, paste can be messy (I have had it all over me and amps I have worked on before). Pads alone may not conduct heat as well as pads with paste, but the MS amps which use pads are...

Re: Silpads or Cooling paste on MS2250?

I have no idea what voltage the fan is I just posted a pic of that that type of fan looks like. STinger makes some nice ones that are 12v. The stinger seems very noisy indeed has dBA35 Sound Level, then you might as well install a enermax from 12 which has a greater air flow and a lower noise level...

honestly the more room you can leave the better it will be. Keep it as big as you can with out stickin out too far. Couple of squirrel cage fans and you would be golden(good). Just in case squirrel cage fans do not translate well they look like this. http://www.woodlanddirect.com/Chimney/Vantage-He...

Re: Silpads or Cooling paste on MS2250?

Silpads work great on most MS amps, and are easy to work with. However, in the case of the original MS2250, silpads don't conduct the heat well enough. If you put the amp under heavy load, the transistors can overheat and fail. Instead of silpads, PG used paste, as the heatsink on the MS2250 is ano...

I ask you a question what is the minimum distance that must be in accordance with the heatsink from the fund for the proper functioning? There are still fans that push air.

Re: And 'possible to merge two MS 2250 with heatsink

I personally wouldn't bother welding them... just remove the endplates, mount them together, and install a one-piece plexi across both. If you are desperate for a full size sink, check the buy/sell area as they have been floating around for a bit. Similarly people are trying to remake them right no...

Silpads or Cooling paste on MS2250?

Hi all I'm here to ask for advice on how to proceed with the arrangement of my ms 2250. I must say that the amp is stopped for a while and I wanted to repaint the heatsink with FAS finish I've seen here do Matthew (mhyde71). I wanted to ask but since I have to disassemble the amp to send it to the S...
