finding 1" thick wood in the Chicago area isn't the easiest thing to do for some reason. mdf in general is getting harder to find.

the rest of the box will be constructed from two layers of 1/2 inch mdf or birch. weight is somewhat a factor of the full system.zeropoint0.5 wrote:0.75 would be enough for a 500 W rms sub, but for a 1600 W rms sub i would take at least 1 "......
same story about the wood itself.....

I was thinking the same thing, just figured I'd get extra input before i give it a try. Plexi that thick isn't the cheapest stuff to play with. LOL

I'm about to start building a sealed sq box for two of the new elite 12" subs. I was wondering what plexiglass thickness I should use. The plexi will only be on one side of the box, opposite of the woofer mounting baffle.
