Re: Magnet boots warped and discolored
When you send power to a speaker, that power turns 99% into heat. A sub can disspiate some heat through the cone, but most of it through the backside. Thats where all the cooling vents are. If the back is snugly wrapped in polyfill, then all that heat just builds up in the subs motor and basket. Pl...

Re: Magnet boots warped and discolored
that’s a sign of too much poly fill in the box. poly fill should be in a mat form 1/2 to 3/4 thick (used in blankets) and attached with adhesive glue to the inside walls of the box. most people think that the poll fill used in pillows can be used, i stay away from it because it doesn’t let the spea...

Magnet boots warped and discolored
Okay...I have a pair of Xenon X10D2's running off my Xenon X600.1 amp...been running without fail over the last 6+ years. Recently I had built a new test box for them and when I pulled them out of their current box, I noticed the aluminum plates on the magnet boots were warped and discolored (high h...

Re: Xenon 10XD2 subs
Basically it's the sound. It's hard to describe, that's why it is best to try it without, play it for a bit on several tracks and see what you think. With or without it's a matter of taste too, so no one can sit here and say you need it or you don't. The cool thing about polyfill is you can add it ...

Re: Xenon 10XD2 subs
If it were me, i would try it both ways and see what sounds better in your car. LL This is the general rule you should adhere to regarding polyfill. You don't always need it. Sealed boxes tend to have more issues with the subs getting too hot simply because the air doesn't circulate at all. So...wh...

Re: Xenon 10XD2 subs
That's a good question. I assumed that a small enclosure worked a bit better with fill added to ( trick the sub into thinking its in a larger enclosure. And a bigger box did not need fill. I think this is more geared towards sealed boxes. But I would like to know some fact as well. Yes, this had be...

Xenon 10XD2 subs
Okay...I've had a couple of Xenon 10XD2 subs pumping in my trunk for the last 6 years. They are being pushed by a Xenon X600.1 amp. Each sub is sitting in .75 cu. ft. of space stuffed with polyfill. I have never really had any problems at all over the years. Saturday, I was messing around and built ...
