I need help from someone in a western state with a lot of rock

I am building an aquascape aquarium, and I want to put some cool rocks in it. My state is primarily flat land, and any rock I find is polished river rock. I am locking for some specific shapes but am open to ideas on the kinds of rocks. I do have a large chunk of petrified wood from many years ago, ...

Here is an idea... Maybe we pick a day once a month, like the first Friday, or the last Sunday, or something along those lines, where we try to get as many members to show up and get some threads going. Now that I have a smartphone, I bet I could set it up to remind me when I need to be on the forum...

Re: Op Amps | Phoenix Gold M44 and M50

Many years ago I played around with changing out op-amps on my PG amplifiers. I never noticed a difference in sound, or performance. Now you can make the argument that my ears are not good enough to notice, and someone else's are, and that is a fair argument. I think I can instead back up my point w...

Re: Leaking capacitor tutorial update

One difference between the v1 and v2 versions of that amp was the x-over control pots. The ones in the v1 fail, and one of the signs of failure is what you are experiencing, with channels not working, static, popping, etc. The gain and bass pots in these amps tend to fail over time as well. I typica...

Re: WTB Graphics Card

Well, I ended up buying a GTX 660 off eBay. But, playing around with this old computer gave me the gaming bug, so I also bought a stripped down Dell G5 gaming PC off eBay as well. I found a GTX 670 for that, but maybe when (if) prices calm down I will look for something like a GTX 1070, or RTX 2060 ...

WTB Graphics Card

As many of you have probably noticed, the graphics card industry has gone out of control. Right now cards are going for 3 times what they were a few months ago. I am looking for an older card to put in a computer I am putting together for my kids to play with. If you have something lying around you ...

Also, I suggest you consider trying one of these...

No, it is not a ZX450, but you might be shocked how great it works for the money.

A friend of mine stuck one of the 5-channels in his vehicle a few months back and we are both very impressed with it.

Re: What PG amps are simular in size/layout to ZX450 ?

What is not working on it? How bad did it die? It may be possible to repair it yourself. Another consideration is a board swap. Shipping may be cheaper. I have a friend with a seasonal business in Pulaski NY, north of Syracuse. He is there all of September and October. If you got it to him, he would...

Email them directly and ask. I was in contact with main guy there about 4 months ago and he was still selling kits.

I would not doubt they are sold out. Covid-19 has given a lot of people a lot of time to build speaker kits.

Re: planing a build with the M series amps

Your install is looking great. I don't know if you sorted this out or not, but the M series are Class A/B. To my knowledge no one has made a Class A amplifier for car audio use. I have seen amps marketed at Class A, but in practice they were high bias Class A/B, not a true Class A output stage. Thes...

Re: EQ 215 IX

There is no easy way to change it. If you have a schematic of the EQ, you could change the internal components which tune the aux output, to the desired frequencies you need. In this case it would probably be much easier to use another external crossover instead.

Re: Bridging ZX/Ti amps and RCA inputs

Yes, you need to use a "Y" cable. In the case of the ZX450, a pair of them. If you don't, only one channel will be doing any work. I was always surprised PG did not have a switch to use just one input. After all, their crossovers were some of the most complex and fully functional, integrat...

Re: m25 amplifier not working

Unless I am missing something, it looks to me like your RCA jacks are broken off the circuit board. They are supposed to stay WITH the board when you remote the top cover, not come off with it. That alone is going to cause you problems.

If you have access to old obsolete computers, a floppy cable, or IDE33 data cable make good replacements for the X-over ribbon cable. As a bonus they are more flexible than the original equipment.

Do both channels sound bad (right and left), or just one of them?
Try to play them on a full range speaker to hear the most detail.

Re: ported basics for dummies?

Measure the middle. The average length of the port is the port length for tuning purposes. If you have a way to do a signal sweep, you can verify your tuning once the box is built, and then adjust your port to get back to your target. An impedance curve will tell you the tuning point, but you can ge...

Re: Looking for a copy stand

Thanks for the offer! I bought a Canon Rebel XS, but don't have it in hand yet. From all my research it is an optimum camera for coin photography due to its low megapixel count (better sharpness), and ability to be tethered to a computer. With what ever stand I build or buy, I would like to shoot fo...
