Re: HORNS!

Haven't been around for some time, a lot of gear has been carried into the house since then [ see pics] and some has been taken out again as usual. The rebuild University Classic's are at my brother-in-law's house now. He kept asking about them and I had two sets of cornerhorns stashed at my work at...

WOW. How I wish there was less water [and miles] between us. Would love to drive around like you did and see with my own eyes.
Thanks for doing that for me.
The "sunrise over the valley"-pic is now my new screensaver.

Re: PG SPL Build

When competing at SPL soundoffs in the late 90's , we took a sine wave generator and hooked it up to the preamp. Next we took a rta analyzer set at SPL, started the generator around 30Hz with gain set at reasonable volume and swept slowly up. This way you will find the resonance frequency of your sy...

Good work so far. If you manage to save both cyclones then you're my hero...... :thumleft:

Remember to carefully mask the areas as shown in the tutorial before spraying the coating onto the core.

Re: Servicing a Cyclone

Can you post a picture of the broken off area, so we can have a look? A big piece broken off , will affect the movement of the vanes [ output of the cyclone] but if it's not too large I'd say go for it. I would defenately go for the normal treatment of the core, cleaning- procedure and check the out...

Re: Servicing a Cyclone

You could try, scraping into the debri with a valve- clearance gauge like used in the car industry and work your way down while holding a vacuumcleaner close to the area you work on. This way you could loose some of the debri bit by bit and in the end get the coil out. This does take patience though...

Re: Servicing a Cyclone

Applying spray helps to keep the core together. The magnet will loose small particles over time, the spray just keeps them bonded to the core longer. The cyclones I serviced back when making this thread still kick ass. When you don't apply any spray, particles will get stuck between the core and coi...

THANKS for the good advice guys. "Bertje" over here in The Netherlands offered to have a look at it, he's done many car-amp repairs already and knows how these things work. He's also got a very good website on which he explains all the basics of caraudio [in Dutch]. Will let you know how i...

Re: Ignition tapping trouble, could really use some help!

there is no need to slice anything up to test ignition wires. Its normally not too hard to find a harness where the connection is exposed or else I had a test lead on my meter that was sharpened so you could go through the insulation(and your finger if you missed) to test a wire in less then a seco...

Not when you're a tourist visiting our country for more than a day... meaning they had problems with French and Belgium guys that drove down to Amsterdam at night to score some joints, make trouble and drive off again. You'll find the Dutch Government and us people very torerant if you behave normal...
