Re: box design for 2 rsdc 10"

Running a common chamber with both subs will slightly lower the resonance of the box, making each sub perform as if they were in a slightly bigger box. I rarely if ever build isolated chambers. On boxes with many subs I have subdivided them with chambers, like a sealed box I built for 6 8's & bu...

Re: Todays subs

The SI BM was lame, installed a pair of them in a 4dr F150 & they left a lot to be desired considering the hype online & hefty price tag.

I would second the shallow Alpine's if you have to run a shallow sub.

What about having a vinyl stencil made, paint on the graphics, peel off the stencil & masking, then cover with clear.

Re: Soundstream ref 700sx ?'s

Great little amps when they work, I have a 1000sx on my repair bench right now. Lol FEB board failure killed a Continuum that I never got working again, and even after finding original replacement parts it still just didnt want to play nice. If you are VERY comfortable repairing electronics, id go f...

Re: What is a good mainstream DSP unit?

The previous generation of DSP from Soundstream was a joint effort that the MiniDSP guys worked on with them. The recent DSP offerings from SS & PPI are their own systems which grew from the previous model. I have been looking at them for a while, but I keep going back to wanting the MiniDSP off...

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?

Well look at that, you are right. Good catch, & now that you've pointed it out it looks pretty obvious there is a trace missing. lol I think the original remote has a trace similar to the second diagram running across the top of the PCB, hard to see without removing the components, maybe that's ...

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?

Just notice that those two circuits ARE NOT THE SAME!!! You are mistaken, they are exactly the same circuits but the second one is a bit easier to read. The first image is a double sided PCB, where the red traces are on one side & the green are on the other side. I think you missed the piece wh...

That looks like the layout he used for his boards with modified mounting for the freq pot.

Circuits are the same.

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?

Here is the circuit from Jacampb2's thread. http://www.rollmeover.com/bronco_fab/amps/bass_cube_PCB.jpg It is almost an exact copy of the original PCB layout. The square pad is the positive from the RJ11, which runs to the positive of the LED & parallels to both potentiometers from there. The ci...

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?

The original pot is linear, and logarithmic pot (ie audio trim) is even worse. I think an antilog (reverse audio trim) would be the right pot to use, but I was fine with the linear because it was the same as OEM & the LED intensity change was uniform across the sweep of the dial. The LED intensi...

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?

You can't see the board behind the mount because it is literally that small, the resisters are on the board between the pots & below the LEDs, and the rj11 plug hangs off the back.

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?

You'll drive yourself crazy trying to please everyone, lol. I never understood the point of an on/off. What I did like about the push/pull was people couldn't crank up the bass if they didn't know how to turn it on, they would crank it up & down & give up when nothing changed. I tried the sa...

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?

That makes sense I guess. I havent tried tying an LPL into the mix, with my BC at zero the bass heavy songs are right where I like them, and then I just use the BC to bring up the bass where needed on songs with softer bass tracks. My sub is crossed over fairly low, so the boost range of the BC when...

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?

And the bc remote and lpl do not do the same thing. I like to use both. Can you elaborate on the differences please? I know everything about the Basscube, what am I missing from the LPL? It attenuates the signal entering the preamp section of the amp, why would you need that with a Basscube that wi...

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?

Lets say LPL is $40, RMD is $30, BC remote say $50, You willing to pay $120 or more for that custom control center Drock? The board I used was 1/2"x1.25", and honestly was plenty small. The components & having some space around the LEDs kept the board from getting any smaller. I did us...

Re: After a late night at the prototype lab...

What I love about seeing the guts of an amp is all the colors of the components. Adding a blue plexi may just obscure the visibility of the components & still not pop the engraved portion. A smoked or very light grey plexi would be pretty cool, but still fairly difficult to see through unless yo...

Laser engraved? Edge lighting that could really make the engraving pop & doesnt take much light at all. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b343/Car_Fynatik/Evo%208/IMG_0387_zps76d6f33b.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b343/Car_Fynatik/Evo%208/IMG_0376_zps1f94114e.jpg That was 24" wide &...

Fi.Q is a great sub & should fit your box requirements well. http://store.ficaraudio.com/q12/ Alpine's type X subs had composite framing behind the cones that used to crack & break all the time when people pushed them too hard. I wouldn't be surprised to hear of a composite basket breaking u...

This setup isnt strong enough to mill steel, but it can do aluminum.
I however have no experience milling aluminum, yet. I dont see why not though, do you have a sketch or picture of what you are looking for?

Wife thought I was crazy, but that was my reaction too. lol For the price it is awesome, and the cutting area is a little on the small side (12"x12"x3") but I can expand that to almost 3'x3' for just over $100 if I ever need to. (can go larger, but that gets very expensive) I primaril...
