Fall :-)

I'll let the pictures do the talking :) These are mostly with the 100-300/f4 and the K5, occasionally with the 1.4TC for good measure. Otherwise the D-FA50 macro. Enjoy! 1. http://www.23hq.com/23666/8187809_77b33bcd1e5257c069def1aeddbbc8fa_large1k.jpg 2. http://www.23hq.com/23666/8187811_b6f7af77929...

Re: Ported vs Sealed, lets open this can of worms. lol

for a specific sub, the CSS SDX10; the 0dB point is at 73 Hz in a 28l sealed box. And 41Hz in a 31l ported, tuned to 28Hz. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11641550/boxes1.png https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11641550/boxes2.png I think you'll find the ported is a bit better in this application. However, the port s...

Re: Ported vs Sealed, lets open this can of worms. lol

cabin gain depends on the longest length available. One story I read online (and which seemed reasonable); to simulate it, add a Linkwitz-Riley filter starting at the frequency of the cabin (i.e. the longest length you have and then use that as a half-wavelength). For me, at 3m length, this is aroun...

Re: da build....

it's fine, I'm just not taking photos when I'm working ;) Or I'm working when I'm taking photos ... :D And rain stopped everything today. Massive rush to put the car back together, got the outside LEDs wired but not illumination. Need to do that next; the amps are OK where they are but there's a shi...

Re: da build....

in the mean time, I've done 4k kms through Europe and I'm home again. And sick of not having tunes. So today I've been at the summer house and I've made some serious progress (and haven't touched a camera!). The SDX10 has a nice fresh box, 31l (just over a cube) with a port, tuned to 31Hz or so. It ...

Re: summer holiday in pictures...

Thanks! Still using the K5, just sold the 24-70 as I simply wasn't using it after getting the 17-50. I basically took all of these with three lenses (!!). Scary thought; LBA is not necessary ;)

Re: summer holiday in pictures...

you lose minimally, especially as you then sharpen harder than usual (I use 0.5 - 0.7 normally and 1 if I have upscaled) and then the downscaling really helps. Works well with touching up, too....

Re: summer holiday in pictures...

thanks :) The only one of those with a tripod is #12. Monopod on.... 2, 8, 10, 13, 14, 15, 17 and 18. Sharpening - there's a massive trick involved and it's pretty simple. Upscale to 200%, sharpen more than usual, downscale, hey presto. Oh, and all my lenses are now micro-adjusted using liveview vs ...

Re: da build....

a bit of a change of plan (another!). The five amps no longer fit with the original side trims in. So.. it's down to four at the moment and that might go to three. See, if I use 3" mids and tweets - run off of a 100.2 and 90.2 - then I only need a sub for 150Hz down. And that can run off of a 3...

Re: da build....

not much done today, but I now have teh flat strips (which cut beautifully using tin snips, which I wasn't expecting) so I started bolting the parts onto the first amp this evening. Makes sense, fits, should be OK, seems to work. Need to cut some more angle tomorrow and sort out the rest of the amps...

Re: da build....

you're right.... and today I pulled everything back out again. And realised how much space I'm "letting go". Not good. Considering it's a small car, I really need to do this better. So, having taken quite a bit of the interior out, I've starting re-thinking what I want and how I can get it...

Re: da build....

as usual, other things got in the way... 16mm2 cables for the amps cut, CBR44 mounted. No forks, so I'm going to see what happens without any termination for the moment. Car is now clean again on the inside, and I could easily drop / replace the glovebox with a sub, but I'll leave that one for the m...

M3-ATx is here and in the case (fits, but only just...); the first of the MX-3s is also lit and is pleasantly bright :) Also fixed the LEDs in the vents, which haven't been working properly in a very long time. Tomorrow I have some more time and so I will strip the interior so I can check where all ...

Nokia CK200 is now installed, as is the display, but no power to the unit as I only had around 2 hours. I'll be back down tomorrow, taking more out and starting to really understand where the cables are going and what needs to be seriously sorted. M3 ATX should be here tomorrow, too, so I can put th...

Re: da build....

right.... Reaper kicks ass. Fuck me, this is *good*. Clean, deep bass with black backgrounds and crunchy treble. Significantly, audibly better than Foobar on its own. Wow. Removing Nokia Suite means I can go back to size 1024 FFTs and it is clean, even on a D510MO (Atom board) with 2GB RAM and 64-bi...

My carPC finally has a case and a PSU is on order (M3-ATX); the M2-ATX I have appears to be dead / blown caps. The sound card is here and works well. Front end will be Reaper, ...
