I'm such an idiot, help me fix my mistake
I have a simple system, prefab box with a pair of IDQ 10's in the hatch. Now my little hatch is quick enough that when I accelerate the box goes flying. What I did to fix this thinking I was so smart, was to put a bungee cord across the sub box holding it in place. I pulled the cord up around the to...

I just pulled my Alpine 9815 out of my car last week, swapped in a Kenwood nav system. Have to say, the Alpine sounded better but I wanted Nav so oh well. Mine's mint , original box, manuals, remote..... low usuage. And yes it plays CD-R's and CD-RW's which I used all the time. Was going to flog it ...

Will a video signal induce noise into a system ?
I'm putting Nav in the car and installing a rear view camera. I need to run a single RCA cable to feed the video up front to the Nav unit. Will a video cable induce noise into a system ? Should I run it with the power wires or does it matter if I run them next to the audio RCA cables ?

Just measured it , 1/2 inch roughly in diameter. I like the idea of the split wire , now that I thought about what you said, those Harness ends would be a PITA to pass through. I'd like to use a big harness to put the wires from the controller, under the dash, through the firewall then then they can...

Thanks, had a look there. Now the question remains: What size wiring do I need to use to cover the combined bundle of wires ? Here's some pics of the wiring in question and comparison shots of 4 and 14 gauge wire to give you an idea of what size these wires are. http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t2...

What type of flex wire should I use ?
Install project: Automotive gauges, sensors and control unit. I'm installing a set of gauges in my car and want to keep the wires organized and safe from snagging/breaking. Most of the gauges run two small wires about 22 gauge in a single 14-16 gauge plastic sleeve. There will be 4 gauges + power/gr...

Sold my beloved MS2125 to him this past weekend. He said he'd buy it and met up with me promptly. Great guy to meet with in person which made for a super easy deal.

VW and window regulators = lol. We were lucky, I had a 95 Jetta GLX, wife had an 01 Golf 1.8t and the windows were fine. That said I do not recommend VW. They are VERY COOL cars, lots of oohph with the turbo or 6 cycl motors but Jesus Christ they can't build a solid car. I babied my Jetta, only drov...

Very nice ! When I lived at home my neighbors had a 55 Belair, all original low miles. It was literally their grannies car and she only drove it on Sundays. Stick shift was on the column, the car sat in their garage and they only took it out 3-4 times a summer. 100% original, no rust, maybe 10,000 m...

This evening I took it downstairs and plugged it into the stereo in the gym. I have an older Yamaha stereo amp down there, I used the speaker wire inputs and well... ITS ALIVE ! So, I won't be giving this away on craigslist after all. Lots more base in the basement now. This however brings up a new ...

Well it worked perfectly well right before so I know its not the amp (HTR what I'm talking about). Today I took it apart, or at least attempted to. Removed every screw that was there save for the ones that obviously hold the RCA/line level inputs onto the board. Look at the pics, its obvious HK made...

True, that heatsink may slide through the plate. I assume the whole fricken plate/amp would come out but perhaps you take off the plate , THEN the amp behind. So while I am going to unplug this is there anythign in there that could zap me still and if so how would I discharge it (unplug over time ?)...

So I fucked up my powered sub this weekend....
Yesterday I thought I'd run a longer Digital audio cable from the HTR to the sub since the existing cable was just short enough to barely reach. After doing all the wiring I went to swap over the RCA cable, when I removed the old cable I heard somethign crack and now the input is loose, feels like i...
