Re: holy price-hike netflix %60!?

Still trying to decide if it's going to be worth it anymore when the price hike hits in September. The convenience of instant streaming and the movie recommendations they make are what I like and make it difficult to just walk away. I've come across a few awesome flicks that I might have otherwise n...

Re: Engineering failure .....

I agree with Tom. Midbass up front is the bees knees, but not if you're sacrificing optimal positioning for your midrange drivers. I would also play around with the signal path a bit, as I don't imagine you're gaining much using the epicenter on the midbass signal, but it can easily cause non-linear...

Re: G'day, and Help!

On the tantrum amps, you have to remove the black plastic knobs from the potentiometers in order to get the cover off. They're typically on there pretty good and don't feel as if they come off, but they do!

Re: Help with headunit!

Testing for resistance to ground as I described is a basic test for simple circuits. It's not something I would do, or claim to know exactly what the test means when applied to a electronic device like a deck. Keep in mind that an electronic device has to place some sort of resistance between power ...

Re: Help with headunit!

Checked all wires again. No shorts anywhere. But still no power on the acc line (with key to acc obviously) I have to assume it is shorting out in the deck somewhere... You lost me here. When did you lose power to the acc line? Last I checked power was good to go? Once you have confirmed power, gro...

Re: Help with headunit!

You mentioned you had a meter. Is it multi-meter or just a voltage meter? You tested your power circuits but what about the speaker wires? Most of the aftermarket vehicle wire harnesses and deck harnesses use a standard color code. Do you have grey, white, green, and purple pairs of speaker wires? I...

Re: Tantrum 600.4 config question

Setting the rear input selector to "F" will allow you to feed the signal from the front rca input to all four channels. So yes, you COULD do that, but it's really not optimal due to the added complexity of matching the levels and filters for front and rear channels. I would recommend using...

Re: Need some help Identifying those subs.

They definitely look like QX104's. From back in 02-03'ish The first gen Tantrums looked a lot like these. The major differences between the two lines were that the Tantrums had a bigger motor structure, rubber surrounds (foam on the QX), and a rubber trim/gasket (cork on the QX). ^^^This! I think y...

To make things easier, toss the paper weight in the garbage(which is the cap) and drop a batt in the back along with the big 3 in done 0ga. this is a better choice IMO. This advice is presumptuous and doesn't help to answer any of the OP's questions. :naughty: The only thing this interruption "...

The glass case was in no way an attempt to differentiate or highlight the product line. I didn't see any functioning audio displays. Tint and wheels were definitely the top priorities for this shop.

Re: I just figured out why this name was so familiar

Dr. Leigh definitely played a big role at PG. The real question is if in fact this is the same dude. I assume you haven't chatted him up since you figured out what was nagging at you. What kind of work do you do?

Re: Ti 800.4 review on DIYMA

The dealer closest to me has equipment in stock....and on display in a glass case! When I asked when or if they might have a functioning demo the salesman assured me that they sounded as good if not better than his old Ti Elite amps. When I politely tried to correct him he not only stood firm, but a...

Do you even know the amount of R&D Jacob at Sundown does before production of his amps? Do You? I do recall that he was a fairly active member here (or on SoundBuggy) for a very brief amount of time. This was just prior to Jacob starting up Sundown Audio and he was picking our brains for ideas ...

You could drive yourself crazy thinking of all the different processing possibilities at your disposal when you're using a pile of PG gear like you've got! I know I did when I was in your shoes a few years back and I just found myself suffering from a case of deja vu while I was trying to analyze yo...

Shouldn´t it say REAR low pass speaker outputs 8) No, it should be labeled SUB low pass speaker outputs. All three of the gain pots are differentiated FRONT, REAR, and SUB. The corresponding speaker outputs are also labeled, FRONT and REAR, thus the SUB specific label is missing on the third set of...

You can effectively test for continuity on your RCA's by testing the resistance from one end to the other using a dmm. You'll do the test three time for each rca though (that means 6 tests per stereo set!). Once on the center conductor and once on the outer shield, and finally a test to make sure th...
