Re: EQ and You, Boost or Cut b/w ZOMG CLIPPING

Now here's an article even I understand... Back in the late 90's I saw A LOT of smoked woofers and burned-down amps at car audio shows. Many caused by bad wiring, a short of battery-power [ no calculating of ANYTHING done] ,or plain dumb ass "I hear no distortion " ears. As I watche...

Re: Are these caps original? MPS-2220

I recently sold the same amp, board etc. looked the same like yours in every way regarding the fet add-ons , flux residue etc.. ALWAYS replace the caps if they are still original, PLUS the silpads. You will see that they will leave some of the isolation-material on the sink when you remove them. Rep...

Re: problem with a ms-275

As you can see PG used Panasonic caps (which are good, but just like any other cap...will fail eventually with time and use). Nichicon and Elna are great manufacture for caps, just try to keep it over 105 celcius rating when ever possible. Keep everything the same capacitance value.....you can go a...

Re: problem with a ms-275

I would never do something like double the value of a cap. I would switch it back to stock value with all new caps and call it a day. If you know what you're doing then you can easily upgrade many devices by doing so. I agree that keeping to stock values is the safest way to go when you're not fami...

Re: problem with a ms-275

Here you go; Input caps are the same in all MS amps. The factory size is 18x31.5mm: http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... 93-1804-ND http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... =P11210-ND You can go up to 35mm height as well, to match the rail caps, but it is a tight fit. I've found this one f...

If you look for it, you'll find the section where the right values are mentioned. [Nichicons] Guess somewhere in the how-to section. If you need help with recapping I could maybe help out, I've done a few. Also got two new original metal bottoms, white. And you're from Belgium, so we are neighbours....

Hey Marc; sorry to hear all this, I've noticed your absence. Just want you to know that what you went through ,happens to a lot of people at a point in life. [mostly around the age of 40]. It does not make it less hard on you, but I've seen people that had a perfect life, come apart and getting into...

Re: Love to see PG build something like this

I used MS2125's and even MS1000 amps in my livingroom; because of the 8 Ohm impedance of the typical home-audio speakers a good 40-50 amp powersupply is enough. A battery will serve well for about a week when listening every evening for app. 2 hours , then needs recharge. Better yet; use a charger w...

That missing screw is on the table in the other room where you answered the phone...... but you will only find it the day after, when the phone rings. That special brake-bleeding wrench which dissappeared .....returned to my bench after a year. The customer brought his car in for the yearly checkup....

I have supplied a number of members with the correct silpads. Seems these are hard to come by, I buy them at a local shop over here where they have them made for me by the 100pcs.
PM me if I can be of assistance.

Again a very nice deal made with Eddie; a MS2125 for a good friend of mine over here in The Netherlands. The amp was prepared and shipped with much care, following the "MS-shipment method" which prooved to be crucial for these amps. Connectors and bars removed, rca's taped on the inside, a...

AMAZING WORK Nils ! Back in the days I refurbished these, I spend many hours to get the sinks look decent again. Also found amps with such battered up sinks that I refused to refurbish them. Haha! Love the pic ! reminds me of the time when I sold a JBL GTI 15 inch woofer [real deal at the time] and the guy appearently made a pic of it after he bought it. Re: Battery woes

You mean with the battery connected using a amp meter between the battery-pole and car I guess? We perform this simple test with two persons; one looking at the meter [which has to be able to read low- and high amps], the other one pulling out the fuses one-by-one, the first looking for a amp-drop. ...

Re: HELIX XXL POWERSTATION

The XXL manual states 100 amp. continiously, 200amp. peak; check the total power consumption of your install and you'll have the answer. Great way to get the maximum out of your components using one.
Good luck.

I agree; sounds like the typical problems caused by a bad cell. We have customers who buy a optima for they use their classic MB only a few times a year. Many have a alarmsystem....Voltage reads good after a few months, but starting the engine is impossible. While testing it for CCA it looks O.K, bu...
