Re: random thought
With an optional model number addendum though, they could have a different transformer setup, and run higher voltage rails, higher voltage outputs, and make 1 ohm power at 4 ohms.... Or even 8 ohms.... Think elite.1MS or elite.1MAC or elite.1MPS. Pick your "ideal" output impedance, get bad...

Re: random thought
If its X watts at 4 ohms or X watts at 1 ohm.... I'd still rather have it at 4. Or at worst, 2.... 1 ohm often doesn't sound good anymore with a lot of amps. All the cheap class d crap is going 1 ohm too.... Hell, MS vs MPS, maybe give customer an option of 4 ohm or 1 ohm power with a tweaked model ...

I was thinking that in the future... We could heat our electric cars with water cooled amps... If you have to burn the power anyways, make mine class a on the mids and highs, class a/b on the subs, and give me 5kw of near instant on heat..... Hehehehe

Don't split em. Run both 0s from front battery to rear battery, with fuses on each end, close to each battery. Other option is battery, fuses, long run, big fused distro block, with another run to other battery, and draw amp power from the distro block. I am unsure why no one has come out with a sup...

Re: Ti amp questions
Run 0 to the back, short runs of 4 gauge to all the amps. If you get a second 2500.1 you'll surely need an extra extra beefy alt, big three up front in 0 gauge, and two runs of 0 to the back, and most likely an extra battery in the back. I'd run 0 gauge big 3, an extra battery and 0 front to back wi...

Re: ZPA balanced input configuration
It will work. Just make custom cat 5 cable with right pin out on both ends... If you have a four channel balanced driver, and two zpa's you could run all four channels, run two 4 wire phone cables into the rj45 of the arc piece correctly, and then put an rj45 on each output end with the correct pin ...

I want some more tantrum x 8's or 8d's plain black cone, stylish, make freaking rocking midbass.... Don't suppose anyone has a pair or four stashed away to trade, lol. Although a ti2 8 might work well too. Hell, wouldn't even have to be ti series. RS? S?

Re: 8" Subs Vs. Larger Subs
Cone area isn't always what it's cracked up to be.... Unless we are comparing similar Xmax drivers, in the realm of similar Qts, and similar style/tuning enclosures. Furthermore, on some of the 8's with higher Xmax that I've seen, the cone area is 'tiny' due to a huge surround. Why, I have no idea, ...

Re: 8" Subs Vs. Larger Subs
At 89db 1w/1m you'd be talking two 8s, each with same power as the 10, 8s would be a undetectable bit louder than the 10. Four 8s would put you 3db up, so 'twice' as loud. Realistically need 10db gain to sound twice as loud to your ears and brain though.....

Re: 8" Subs Vs. Larger Subs
Look at the crap efficiency on that 8. With 4 of them, your still getting ~2db less output with 4 watts(1 each) than 1 watt on the 10. Now lets add power... 400w on 8s vs 100w on 10, the 8s are still not as loud... 1400w on the 8s (max rms) = 2db less than 350w on the 10. May not matter if you've go...

Re: Iphone as a head unit?
Do it in the fun car. Works well, I'm going from iPhone into eq215ix, then into rest of system. Gains are set a bit higher than with a deck, but works well. The last click of volume on my 3G wasn't linear though. The iPhone 5 and my iPods are a lot more linear. Get yourself a subsonic server and the...

Re: What is triple darlington, and why is it advantageous?
Yeah, I've owned two of the Sony ES big red amps, a 2ch and a 4ch. Neither one was anything more than single sides light weight pcb. About same board weight and build quality as pyramid or "American legacy" they did at least put the power supply on a separate board altogether in the 4ch, b...

Re: What is triple darlington, and why is it advantageous?
Speaking of over rated amps... The Sony ES line of big red amps may have sounded decent, but the circuit boards were a freaking joke. I'd love to find one stupid cheap just to send to Erik to test though. Heh.

Under powering isn't more likely to blow speakers... Until the idiot with the gain starts clipping the crap out of it. I've always wondered if it wouldn't be possible to throw efficiency out the window and somehow apply a variable resistance to an extra Unpowered voice coil, so as it approaches mech...

Yeah... But that's an amp... Not a dedicated xo/eq... Use same tech, bring your own amps... Ms, zx, ti, zpa, elite, or even other brand, etc... Lots of people loved the pg amps, didn't care for their speakers. Similarly, lots might be interested in the app amp tech, but already have a big sub amp, o...

Lots of us out here that have all or most all what we want or need for amps... Any possibility of an app xo/eq unit for signal processing to feed into our existing gear? Re: What is triple darlington, and why is it advantageous?
Stupid current isn't just about 1 ohm or "high current loads", with the triple Darlington setup, your final stage is JUST a current gain stage. Outputs can only be driven so hard, either voltage/current or both. It's a heat dissipation per output issue. By the final drive stage being just ...

Re: What is triple darlington, and why is it advantageous?
There are advantages over many more common MOSFET designs. One of the advantages is you can parallel many more final current gain output transistors to drive stupid currents, although that is not the only advantage. It is also a nice clean audiophile grade design.

Re: A video about copper claw aluminum power wire
CCA is no worse than copper... As long as its sized right. I'd love to see quality 6,4,2,0 gauge options in CCA, never hurts to have more options and as long as you size it right, handle more current per pound and per dollar. Hard to go wrong there if you use it right. Also on my list of stuff I'd l...

Don't know what the Zune has for signal output, but if its like the iPods, a line driver or higher gain may be needed for strong output. That's not what your looking for though. Is it musical. Does it sound right... Who cares about volume when testing. I like to test at pretty low volumes. Less chan...
