Junk rcas or corrosion on connections can do it. Especially If they are unshielded and run by other wires, or have cuts in them. Go try a set of 20 foot cheapies run outside the car. Or use your iPod with adapter straight into the amp and see if it does it.

Pair of 6.5" or a single 8" bazooka tube, replace the speaker with something nice, maybe cram a small class d under the seat?

Re: new install, confused why amp flickers
Could your alternator be slowly failing? Short drops of voltage have caused issues for me in the past. If you've got a couple other amps in the system, maybe throw an rmd on the goofy amp and one that isn't having issues. Could also be corrosion in a fused distro possibly? Failing that, try using iP...

Something to mention... Make sure you fuse that 0 gauge power wire from alt to battery. ANY big power wire MUST be fused. Any small power wire SHOULD be fused... Somewhere. It's not as critical as a big wire, but even 12 or 14 gauge if unfused and shorted to ground equals big problems. Don't ever ov...

Re: So How Good Are the Xenon
Early xenon had a few issues, think it was first couple hundred. Later ones were supposed to be more reliable than any other pg high end line ever according to pg returns if I remember right. Part of me thinks it was the voltage dropping at low impedance that made them less likely to combust than zx...

I like to be able to play MUSIC in the 135-140 db range with top on, windows up. Reason: delsol with top off and wind noise of interstate driving, rear window down, sides up... or about 35-45mph in town beltway speeds with all windows down. For closed top listening, it's never really above 120ish I'...

Or could something have shifted and pulled speaker wires partially out of amp and they're shorting there intermittently? If it was me, I'd yank the sub amps power fuse until you figure it out. No point in thrashing it on a dead short....

Re: CES 2013 Sneak Peek ?
If its class d with voltage adjust... Whatr the odds of getting more voltage to run subs at 2/4/6 ohm impedances and still make rated power instead of this 1ohm crap. (Xenon style, maybe a switch to set max voltage instead of sense? With thermal/current detection to drop voltages if people get a bit...

Seen a ton of brofists and hardons over sundown... Haven't actually heard any that sounded good. I do know that lots of people sell em used. It works great ..... If they are only handling different frequencies so no shared frequencies between the two sizes it is having subs and midbass or subs and mids and tweets. In this case you got subs and extra deep subs kind like how people have done with the cyclones and 10s or 12s. If was me, I w...

I love my denon 2308ci , but it doesn't have line outs for each channel. It does however upscale darn near freaking everything to 1080p, then kick it out the hdmi output. Makes switching sources much easier, just set the tv to hdmi input from the denon, switch source on the denon. Wii, ps2, blue ray...

Well, if you've got 15 feet of extra ground 0 gauge... You could out in a beefy ground distro right by battery.. Double 0 to frame and battery, then to engine block, to alternator mounting bracket if possible... Etc. A single battery to frame ground, if that's the only primary ground, can screw up a...

Re: How to make a mps-2500 put out like a MS-2250
My guess is the TAs on eBay would be cheaper or about the same price as converting yours. And then you'd have the mps's to sell of hang on your wall. Watch the gains and turn off any boost junk at 2ohm bridged on the TAs though. You'll also want some airflow via fans as well most likely. Other optio...

Re: How to make a mps-2500 put out like a MS-2250
I don't think anyone other tha. Pg techs or ex pg techs have the schematics. I think someone gave Eric a list of some of the differences, and he may have had access to an old ms2250 to figure the rest out. It's not exactly rocket science, but its certainly closer to rocket science than it is changin...

Re: How to make a mps-2500 put out like a MS-2250
Simple. Hand wind your own ribbon wound transformers to match the 2250TA or original 2250... Replace the power supply mosfets with beefier ones, replace all the caps with higher voltage versions, and replace a handful of other parts.... In your case, you might have to also replace the outputs with d...

Re: Zed sayed Blaaa blaaa bla
It also depends a LOT on amp power supply. Fully regulated stuff doesn't do so well at low impedances generally, and rarely do amps have enough capacitance on the rails and the power supply input to really truly shine at low impedance loads. Plus look at all the extra heatsink your buying. MS2250 vs...

Re: what would you do with a 1 farad cap?
Hey, 1f for gauges certainly couldn't hurt... I'd diode isolate, but that's me. Why waste the capacitance on the rest of the system when it will make zero difference. Drop in the bucket, etc.

Re: what would you do with a 1 farad cap?
Granted... Depending on how good your alternator is and how much/rapid your voltage drop is... It may make zero difference. With a vastly under-powered alt and headlights that darn near strobe it works pretty decently, although there really isn't a practical way to permanently wire it. I'd love a fa...

Re: what would you do with a 1 farad cap?
You misunderstand. 12v->diode->cap pos terminal. Cap charges through the diode. If the car voltage drops, it won't discharge the cap. Only things powered from the cap discharge it. So if your cap is stabilizing the voltage of a low draw device, instead of voltage dropping nearly instantly from 14v t...

Re: what would you do with a 1 farad cap?
High current or not, your eyes see difference in light easier than you can hear a difference in volume. Unless the HID circuitry is fully regulated, it will make a bigger difference there than anywhere else. If that is the case though, the. I'd diode them and run the REST of the non-audio side of th...

Re: what would you do with a 1 farad cap?
Use diodes, and run it for the headlights. At worst, instead of blinking with the bass, they fade and return... More of a slower heartbeat. Or just fade slower and don't return if your voltage stays low, heh.
