Re: Elite.65cs versus HAT Imagine

To be fair though, I am a basshead who wants good sound quality. When I say I wasn't happy with the midbass, that is trying to have balanced sound quality at 130+db. With three sets, my system sounds awesome at all frequencies at live concert volume. Two sets sounded just fine at "normal people...

Re: Elite.65cs versus HAT Imagine

I started out with a just two sets in place of the front and rear door speakers, and honestly found the midbass lacking. A proper enclosure in the doors may or may not have cleaned it up, I don't know. I didn't want to mess with the doors too much. Instead I opted to put a third set in the kick pane...

Re: Elite.65cs versus HAT Imagine

I heard the imagines, and sounds great. are 100 rms against 150 That 150 watt rating on the Elites is just there to keep stupid people from doing stupid things. They were made to run off the Elite.4, and the birth sheet rms power for mine is 187 watts rms at 14.4 Volts. I run my Elite.4 around 15 v...

Re: Elite.65cs versus HAT Imagine

I have three sets of Elite.65's and they sound pretty damn good. They aren't fragile at all either. Can't comment on the HAT's, but they are cheaper, and the ability to mount the tweeter in a coax configuration is cool.

Iirc the Elite.5 Is like $1399 and the Elite.2 Is like $999. The two channel is the cheapest in the line. But, as you said, they can be had cheaper than that.

Re: Ti series and Elite series differences. Ti vs Ti2 as wel

The Elites are unbeatable amps in terms of sound quality. They are a cut above both of the Ti lines, and really every other amp Phoenix Gold ever made too. But, I'm a fanboy, and I own a pair of them, so you shouldn't listen to me. Instead, you should read what the biggest audiophile nerd of them al...

Re: The New ti21600.5

In terms of bang for the buck, some of the older amps will probably do better for you, the Xtant amps are good, as well as some of the older PG amps like the ZPA's and old silver Ti's. I was never a fan of the old Soundstream Reference amps. But, if you are doing a competition SQ system, and you val...

Re: The New ti21600.5

Yeah, if you can find the Ti's in the right places deals can be had I suppose. You don't find deals on Elites, even used. The Elites seem to hold their value VERY well. Retail, before the Ti's were phased out for Ti2's, the difference in price with the Elites was negligible. In reality, only like $2...

Re: The New ti21600.5

My installer says there is, but I haven't personally demo'd them side by side. That being said, Drock is a lover of the Elite amps, and he has a Ti21600.5, and says it sounds pretty damn good. Personally, if I was ever considering the old large Ti amps, I would just spend an extra $100 or so and get...

.....and most of them do. If you look at some of the bigger Class D's by brands associated with the SPL crowd, they actually advertise the burp numbers along with RMS.

Exactly.......but if all you want to do is hit 160 db for 15 seconds, then I guess that number has some value to you.

Re: How you guys liking the amp dyno?

one of the settings seems to give a hell of a lot more power that the other, not sure what is going on but it's not what I would have expected! all it's going to do is push the price though the ceiling with values :( That is SPL burst. You can't run the amp there for very long. The only rating that...

Re: Music Editing Software

So, I'm now in the process of importing a ton of CD's into Apple Lossless, and I have run across several old CD's that have never had any bottom end. I'm going to use Appetite For Destruction for the example, since this disc has frustrated me for 20+ years. Before you say, "If it isn't on the c...

My Christmas present.....A set of take off 20" wheels and tires off a Silverado LTZ. Beats the hell out of the drab 17's that came with the truck when I got it.

Re: New Phoenix Gold Product Suggestions (Here We Dream)

I'm now considering moving onto Arc Audio, their 4-channel amps are bridgeable! What would make you think the Elite.4 isn't bridgeable? http://www.phoenixgold.com/images/manuals/Elite.4_TechSheet.pdf Honestly though, if I was just doing a 3 way front stage and not doing any rear fill, I would just ...

Re: New Phoenix Gold Product Suggestions (Here We Dream)

Since we're in the suggestions thread, why not an limited edition amp that is a pair of Ti21600.5's in one case? 8 channels at 125 watts rms at 4 Ohm and two channels at 800 rms at two ohm in a 14.5" x 14.5" x 2.5" case would be utterly ridiculous. Highpass, lowpass, and bandpass cros...

You can't really expect the jumps in quality to be as profound as previous jumps. As the games get closer to looking "real", for example like watching a movie, there isn't much further they can physically go with it. I saw the new Madden commercial today, and if not for the camera angles I...

Re: Music Editing Software

I used a free open source program called Audacity, and it seems to have done the job. I have no idea if it lost any sound quality in doing it yet. My computer speakers aren't going to tell me that. I'll have to wait to get in the truck tomorrow to find out I guess.

Music Editing Software

Not really as complicated of a thing as it sounds. I'm looking for something to merge multiple tracks on a disc into one track. Sometimes artists make two songs run together on the album on purpose, but they are split on the disc. A classic rock example is Led Zeppelin with Heartbreaker and Living L...

I have a 32GB IPod under my Christmas tree right now, and I am planning on loading it with lossless tracks to see how it does. Re: CD Changers

On a side note, since that 6 disc changer has DVD capability, and you can burn audio files to a DVD, reckon you could copy CD's to a DVD, taking advantage of the larger disc capacity of the DVD? Has anyone tried that?
