Re: Ti3 1600.5 AND ELITE 2

woah you already have a ti3? or did you mean ti2? you can mix and match all you want. just so you know, the ti2 was made in china and designed in the USA, the elite line was designed and made in Korea (I assume South lol). Other than the same brand name, they have very little in common. That doesnt ...

Re: Happy 10th Anniversary to PhoenixPhorum

its only been 4.5 years for me but it has flown by. In that time I went from buying a blown zpa0.5 to creating the registry website, and owning 2 franks, 2 MS-1000s, 2 outlaws, 2 route 66s, 8 ZPAs, every MS, most M series, and countless other PG goodies. sheesh PG is a drug and most of us are addict...

Re: Thoughts?? Blue Output Caps MS2125 and MQ430s

I found that the best technique for removing rail caps is to melt new solder into the pad before trying to remove any. It seems that with that method you can remove the solder more completely and I've never had an issue when doing it that way. Of course it should be said that I take great care to ha...

Re: TI1200.1

ricky is right on. ive repaired one before also but it was part of the protection circuit in my case. that looks like some parts are missing on yours, and someone already gummed up the mosfets. sometimes on projects like this its worth sending out. an easier amp to learn on would be a smaller ZX ser...

This is what could happen. the electrolytic fluid leaks out. not really a problem (it does eat away at the traces) until it shorts between the two leads, like what happened here...

Re: Phoenix Gold Sapphire Amps

These caps were defective. normally when a cap leaks its out the top and like you said it bulges or has obvious leaking. On these 100% leak, and you can not always tell. sometimes it leaks out onto the amp, sometimes you can slide a piece of paper under the cap to see if its wet, but in the case of ...

Re: Phoenix Gold Sapphire Amps

also, that other cluster of 4 larger caps that are not panasonic were not leaking but they looked cheap so I replaced them as well. In total theres 4 rail caps, 6 input filter caps, and 4 of those other ones, not entirely sure what they are for.

Re: Phoenix Gold Sapphire Amps

trickyricky is 100% correct. I just recapped a 1.5x last night and the input filter caps as well as the rail caps were leaking as they are the same type of cap that failed on the larger amps. The series is slightly different but its the same brand and colors (and made in the same era). http://i251.p...

Call Digi-Key. I've found that they have stuff in stock but don't always show it in their webpage.

Re: Custom, anyone?

And lastly, I'm restoring a frank amp n' stein. Matt Hyde could do the powder coating but he wasn't able to do graphics as they won't show up on black background. Not a problem for my graphics guy. Also, when I got my amp the guy refused to send the matching crossover. Not a problem, I like the mx3i...

Custom, anyone?

First up, I got an m50 off eBay that was DOA. Turns out the rail caps were done. Did a recap with filter and rails and the amp sounds beautiful. http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg291/ls1dave/Phoenix%20gold%20m50%20sn3379/E8C6FD7F-62C7-4050-AFD9-66E1CA998924_zpsaauyoum5.jpg http://i251.photobucket...

I'd keep looking for the blue. Where have you looked so far?

I've ordered them before and they showed up a week later even though they were "out of stock". Maybe call, or just order them and wait.

Yup looks like a Valex mod on there, and an incomplete recap job. When he did the mods the additional caps were used and are 100% necessary.

Re: MS-2125 Help. Beyond Repair????

You can use either cap. I like the 8200 when it fits, and they do fit in these amps. I would like to see Eric's thoughts on this though. (Ok now I see it, we posted at the same time) The gate resistors are the through home axial resistors that are just in front of each mosfet. You can follow the lea...

I'm glad that plexi came out as good as it did and it made it to you safe.

I have your next part being made as we speak. I'll have them ready next week.

Those take-off torroids... do you have plans for them? Hit me up... I may have a use for them.

Re: Help with Route 66 artwork

Matt is slow to get stuff done but he does great work. As far as getting the file, I hope you can. Maybe I'll see if he can send me the file as well so that I can forward it to who ever needs it in the future (and I have a guy who can silk screen using vector files).
